I have been monitoring Andre Dirrell since he started as a pro and I think he has all the skills to take him to the top. Not sure how good his chin is but do you think he is ready to start mixing it with the big boys ? It would help if you have seen more than just 1 of his fights though. Thoughts and feel always welcome...
He's got the goods, skills, speed, dcent power it seems. The chin might be a question but it's early to tell. He should really step it up,he can't fight punching bags anymore.
good fighter/lightning handspeed/big for the weight/ i still feel he needs to learn quite a few aspects of the game and maybe 2009 might be a bit early for him.
Andre Dirrell is ready guys like Dirrell and Ward need title shots ASAP. I have no idea why they haven't bad management would be my guess.
Andre Dirrell has everything you'd want talent wise. He certainly has some issues in the chin region but to me his biggest issue is focus. Way too often it seems like he completely loses focus/interest in what he's doing in the ring. As per why Dirrell isn't getting a title shot, it's because he's just now started to get ranked..and is way too much of a risk to be given an un-ranked title shot. As per Ward? He doesn't even think he's ready for ranked opponents yet...let alone a title shot.
:good this is definetly andre dirrells year to shine. imo, the oakland prospect isn't quite as ready, for a title shot anyway..
Dirrell should fight Zuniga and/or Bika. Someone who would force him to keep focused and on his game would do him some good at this point in his career, as well as preparing him for the top dogs of the division. He's in a deep class, so it might be 2010 before he gets his big break. Honing himself against solid contenders would do him alot of good in the meantime IMO.
Im not sure what all the talk about chin is coming from???? Its not like he is Gamboa and getting dropped in just about every fight...Hell Dirrell hasnt even been hurt in any of the fights I have seen.... As far as a title fight, I believe that Dirrell will get a shot at the WBO mid-year vs the winner of Inkin vs Balzsay....A fight that Im sure he would win vs either guy.
He WAS hurt against Hanshaw. Came back nicely to rebound. And yes, If I'm correct he's in line for a shot at Dennis Inkin.
I'd favor him over Inkin, but I haven't seen enough of Balszay to know whether Inkin will even get by him.
