not for a while. mayweather is still in his prime and he will retire in his prime. mayweather is alot like bernard hopkins. these guys dont get hit often so they dont take as much punishment as the average fighter, allowing then to fight late in their careers. and you notice these guys dont gain much wieght in between fights. both hopkins and mayweather generally walk around in their fighting weight. this allows them to keep competing at a high level because they dint put the stress of making weight on their bodies.
I don't think he will let the public see him age and see him at his worst...he seems a very confident, but very proud man. Hopefully he will get out of the sport before it is too late...too many boxers make that mistake. However, since he came out of retirement...I think he has looked more impressive in the last two bouts than he has over the last 4-5 years.
I don't think we will see Floyd's age show. He is running out of credible opponents and I would be suprised if he doesn't retire for good by the middle of next year. 2 or 3 fights tops.
I honestly see a PAC vs. Floyd fight being the end of both fighters careers regardless of the outcome.
He has only fought 2 boxers who were smaller than him - Hatton and Marquez. Mosley is considered past it, fair enough...everyone has an opinion. But seriously...have you even seen another Mayweather bout?
Yep :good thats about it. Maybe Berto in a years time depending on what he does. I think Berto is well overated but HBO have been building for it.
Thanx. I would love to see him fight pac and win then go on to fight 2 younger guys , just as examples Khan and Bradley , win both fighst then retire with the two youngsters going on to dominate the division. Thats a a Floyd fan lol , or as a fan of him is known these days a "*****"
36 is the age where almost all fighters are in serious decline. That said, it isn't at all unreasonable to expect Mayweather to continue on and on and on like Hopkins did, but at the same time, Mayweather's hand problems are a constant concern as he gets older.
Hard for his age to show when he is fighting guys older than himself, and not in their premium weight class. Not hating, just being honest. I don't think that Floyd has slipped any, so his age isn't going to show. However, I bet if he fought Pac... we would be hearing a lot of "Floyd's shot" or "Floyd didn't look like the same fighter". It's not rocket science... guys never look like the same fighter when they are fighting guys who can make them look different.
Once he feels he can't move the way he wants and when he can't do his trademark counter where he leans forward waiting for his opponent to throw a punch and then he leans back, avoids the punch by an inch and then throws his right and ducks out the way, that is when he will retire. However, Floyd could continue on like hopkins because he doesn't purey rely on reflexes to win fights. He would beat all fighters bar 1 or 2 by fighting in one spot in his shell and just counter all day. (he would get hit more, but still win).
They say boxers get old overnight. Overnight for Floyd Mayweather Jr. Is Probbly not going to happen for awhile. He's a gym rat and his boxing style is very effecent. So he doesn't use too much energy in his bouts.
