Nobody wants to fight GGG... What do you mean step up? He knocked Ishida and Macklin out in back to back fights. Quillin won't fight him... Martinez is out until next year and probably won't fight him. Who should he fight if he can't land bouts with those guys?

That's the hope. Murray oughta beat Wood and then becomes GGGs mando. Murray had a visa appt. at the US embassy in August so I'd hope he'd be ready for a US fight early in 2014 (though GGG could fight in Europe - Jan 25 been mentioned as a TBA date). Maravillas camp (well, Lewcowicz) has mentioned a plan of Cotto then GGG, so that could happen later, and HBO eyeing up Froch. These are 3 fights that could establish Golovkin as one of the top players - I ain't sure how they schedule Maravilla and Froch though, since Sergio can't fight Cotto 'til May from what I hear.

Perhaps Maravilla Aug / Sept and Froch in December? Well, it's just educated guesswork anyways, but that's what I'd like to see.

I think he'll fight next year guys like JCC, Murray and maybe Froch which is good. I also think Canelo will move up @ 160 in 2014/2015.

Quillin is all cheap talk and Martinez is looking after some good payday fights against Cotto and Canelo before retiring.

    Nov 13 - Stevens
    Jan 14 - Murray
    May 14 - Chavez Jr???
    Sep 14 - Martinez
    Dec 14 - Froch

That would be hard to beat for the 2014 fighter OTY award, assuming he somehow wins them all.

    Coming along slowly.

    Tons of build up fights.

Lets see if they pay off but so far so good. He has had a dominant career against the lower "world level" competition he's fought.

    ---

If the subtle point of this thread was to say that GGG has a **** resume RELATIVE TO THE WAY THE VAST MAJORITY SPEAK ABOUT HIM, than yes that is true.

    Hahahaha

Yeah, that would clearly be the Fighter of the Year right there.

However, there's no way he manages to squeeze in that many high profile fights in a calendar year, there's no way he fights all those big names consecutively and in the same year, and there's no way he manages to have Chavez and Froch come down to MW and based on GGG's whole career there seems to be no way he is moving up in weight to face them.

Yeah^. HBO are pushing him hard, and Chavez Jr and Froch would be at 168, but it's massively unlikely it'd be both. Murray is the Mando however (if he gets through Wood) -so not unlikely, and Maravillas camp has named him as the one they want after Cotto. If HBO pushes enough £s at Froch (at 168) then why not?

Things never run that smooth though, and I reckon we'll be lucky to see two of these fights made, but it's nice to dream innit?

That's actually a doable schedule, so long as Gennady didn't take too much damage. Thing is, I expect Murray to drop his belt rather than face Golovkin, especially just a month after Garth Wood (who I think will give Murray a push). Honestly though, might switch Froch & Chavez time wise. Carl's ready now, Jr wants some more easy pay days first.

Hey drozzy, have you heard on when and who Lemieux's next opponent will be?

As soon as Martinez gets in the ring with him and gets KO'd. Martinez is finished. GGG is the true champion as far as I am concerned and would waste Martinez.

KO'd by Murray? - Martin's a great kid and a big tough MW but he ain't likely to stop GGG, he ain't really much for stopping guys, and he ain't got the skills or aggression to get a decision over GGG.

Martin's durable, but I'd still be very surprised if he lasted the full 12. In fact even with Martin in full on defensive mode, I doubt he makes it to 8.

Better question is when will the rest step up to him. He has 154-168 terrorized. He pressures more and resembles Chavez Sr in his prime than Chavez Jr and counters like a prime Kostya Tszyu. He's like Tszyu Jr. And the scary part is he has a high ring IQ so he's not your typical pressure fighter. A wrecking ball with a brain. Sure, he's steamrolled decent opposition, not elites, but those same guys gave other top fighters problems. Only fighter I heard call out GGG was Sergio Mora, credit to him at least for having the balls to do that. And Stevens of course.

I know Daniel Geale is a bum but I would still love to see GGG annihilate him
