They're both on record saying they think it'd be a great fight.

It will happen if or when Ward manages to resolve his legal problems and becomes a draw again.

those fights were to get ggg more attention and they were the only ones who would fight.

you need to understand how this sport works

THIS. Sergio was a great champion who was top 5 P4P. He beat Pavlik, Williams, Dzinziruk, Barker, Macklin, Chavez Jr and Murray. He was down many times (Pavlik, Murray, Chavez Jr, Williams) and lost some fights in the process. He wasn´t criticized for having low level opponents. Business wise he had better opponents.

GGG fights against the same level of opponent all the time but he wins more convincingly and dominates his opponents. He hasn´t been on the floor in amateur or pro fights. Still he is not on the P4P list? Seems absurd to me. Williams lost to Lara and Quintana, Barker was more or less at the same level as Geale, Macklin or Chavez Jr. Pavlik was A-level but had been beaten before. Dzinziruk was really a 154 and small for MW.

Most fans/fighters/media have GGG in their top 10 p4p, and many in their top 5.

However, b/c he's not been given opportunities at 154 or 168, it's tough to put him in the top 3.

He'd smash any of the titlists from 147-168, but getting them to sign is a different deal altogether.

His problem lies in his size.

If he takes short $$$ to make a Ward fight, he'll have to add MUSCLE to make 168 and be 100%. In doing so, he'd struggle to drop back to 160, and mega fights at 152-155 would be out of the question.

So what K2's short term plan is to unify the titles at 160, maximizing his earnings at that weight, while hoping for a megafight with either Canelo or Cotto.....ie a fight he'd make $5++++ mil for, and make himself into a PPV attraction.

At that point, once he's made the 500K+ buys area in PPV, he could move to 168 and get the Ward, Dirrel, Froch, Chavez Jr etc fights that would generate the type of $$$$ top 3 p4ps typically make. In the 6-10 mil range/fight. :think

It's gonna be an expensive fight. Neither guy's gonna take this one on the cheap. GGG needs to be bigger and Ward needs to get back in the public eye.
