Martinez has long been a gem for HBO because he brings in the latino viewers. Sacrificing him against Golovkin would probably be a bad business move or would it?

More than likely on Martinez last fight with HBO. Well, that is if Chavez Jr/TR don't push for a rematch, which in all honesty, HBO will get more money by having Martinez vs Chavez Jr 2 as a PPV event than a Martinez vs GGG on a non PPV event.

And before people start crying....NO! GGG vs Martinez is not PPV worthy! Good fight nonetheless but not PPV worthy, not even for all the belts at MW.

why would Chavez-Sergio II be PPV worthy? it was a one sided beatdown for 11 and 1/2 rounds before Jr woke up, the rematch would look exactly the same, except this time Sergio wouldn't allow Jr to trap him on the ropes like he did in that 12th round

Are you ****ing serious? :patsch How much following does Chavez Jr have? For that 1 minute and a half HBO will hype it up and the fans will buy it. Its just the way it is. I too agree Martinez gave him a beat down but for all parties involved, specially HBO, the money is at with a Martinez/Chavez JR 2 on PPV. Now if that doesn't happen, I am sure HBO will push for GGG vs Geale/Barker and Martinez vs ??? where the winners will face each other (assuming its GGG and Martinez) and no, it won't be on PPV.

anyone who would buy that PPV would have to be pretty stupid, just to see a repeat of the first fight, i honestly would NEVER pay for the rematch, plus, Jr hasn't even fought since Sergio, he doesn't even deserve the rematch

Say what you want, the fight will sell. Don't get me wrong, I rather see Martinez toy around with GGG than a repeat of the Chavez Jr fight but facts are facts. More money in the Chavez Jr rematch than a GGG fight.

Like I said, the only spoiler will be Chavez Jr wanting that rematch. Other than that, I think HBO has a plan "B" by having Geale vs Barker on their network. GGG gets the winner while Martinez fights a "warm up" fight and then.....GGG vs Martinez!!!

i don't think sergio and chavez jr. will fight again. jr. has outgrown the mw, reports say he's fighting in sept. at a cw of 165 next against vera.

.....for sergio, there's ggg but the biggger money option for him is the canelo/floyd winner. i think sergio would rather drop to 154 or 152 than to fight ggg at 160.

Again...this will play into the contract Martinez has with HBO and Canelo/Floyd being with GBP makes the fight impossible. Plus to add to it, Floyd also has a contract with Showtime. Sergio vs any GBP fighter won't happen. (Floyd, Canelo, Quillin)

sergio is with dibella and i don't think sergio has a contract with hbo but it will mess dibella up if sergio fights on showtime.

...but for a last fight with a purse of 3-5mil. against canelo/floyd winner, it could happen.

I hope never. I love Sergio, he earned everything he has the hard way, he should go out with a nice and winnable fight in his home country infront of his fans.

If he fights GGG at this stage of his career after multiple heavy injuries, he runs the risk of getting sparked badly.

i think sergio would rather fight canelo or floyd at the lower weight than ggg at 160. i also think sergio is too small to keep on fighting at 160.
