Probably in 5 years when they make other weight classes for every pound, 100-310 lbs. It's stupid. Almost like baseball now where there is a damn pitcher every inning after the 5th.

    You're right.

In that case, Armstrong fought 65 different fighters a total of 109 times that were rated in the top 10 at one time or another. 47 of them were rated at the time he fought them, plus 3 others were either World Champions or were rated in the top 10 in another weight class. Defeated 10 IBHOF/WBHOFers a total of 13 times in addition to the well known feat of simultaneously holding 3 undisputed world titles and making a record 18 welterweight title defenses. Went 59-1-1 (51 KO) over his peak run, with 37 of them not even going past the fourth round.

Fighters of the past also padded their records with glorified sparring sessions counted as matches.

That's been posted and embarrassingly dismissed: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=315623&page=4

"Fighters of the past" is a pretty thick generalization. Armstrong came along well after boxing became a far more organized sport. We're not discussing Langford. Modern can fairly be traced to post-1920.

How many fighters have comparable accomplishments to those of Henry Armstrong? Why is it only him and a very select few who consistently rise to the top? There's been thousands upon thousands of fighters..

Titles, not lineal championships ie as the single man on top.

So far he had only done it for Flyweight and Featherweight. If he somehow beats Floyd, he'll have it for Welter.

Seriously though, having 8 titles is a mean feat already.

Pac has lineal championships at 4 weight classes, 2 from the original 8 weight classes.

Lets wait and find out. In today's day and age, hopping divisions has become the norm.

I know that, I posted it earlier. But in comparing it to Armstrong you can only use the 2, and in addition, each of Armstrong's 3 are harder to get individually than each of Pac's 4 because of the population density at each weight class. IMO if he gets the 5th against Mayweather, he'll have matched Armstrong rightfully (which is a colossal achievement)

I remain optimistic for a November fight. Too much money at stake (for many involved) for the fight not to happen.

    We'll never know.. :smoke

5 to 7 years back then, we never thought that Pac would campaign @welterweight.. All of a sudden, he defeated guys that we thought he'll never fight.. :deal

"Maybe" Donaire can also do it..

    "IF" ever he can..

Will the also accuse him of using steroids?

And they'll use the logic, "common sense"..
