1) Step up and test himself against a LEGIT challenger. I dont care if its GGG at any weight, or Kov / Pimp at 175. Any will do, cus its about time you had that BIG fight 2) Fight a challenger on their home turf. I dont care that he doesnt 'have to' 3) Compete in a fight with a ref who doesn't tolerate constant holding, clinching, headbutts, elbows And its a cert that he will be the next number 1 P4P apparently, and that he's number 2 now, when honestly Tim Bradley is more deserving. His resume is better imo, hes undefeated too, hes more active, he fights away from home, he has the heart and the desire to fight anyone which is something Ward has not shown, and he has passed gut checks which is something Ward has not done. And dont say 'skills' means hes the better p4p. Bradley has immense skill, and Ward said Bradley was his hardest ever fight. Pretty skillful if you ask me, for a career SMW to say a career JWW was his hardest ever fight after making easy work of the the SMW division I respect his skills, and how he has mastered the craft. But at the minute hes nothing more than Andre 'sven' Wardke :hi:
If Ward hasn't been fighting legit challengers, then you have to ask yourself when any of the top fighters from 160-175 will fight a legit challenger. Because Ward has arguably fought the top comp put of all of those guys.
ye these idiots just chat ****, ignore them, hed have too fight kov or stevenson i think, then if he beats them he will be the best p4p
Ward has been left behind. His ratings on HBO are only average and his ring performances are not fan friendly.Stpe it up or begone-he is living on his reputation only based on the "stupid Six'.
2 to 3 years ago? Yes. "What have you done for me lately?" - one fight in 2012 vs the corpse of Chad Dawson, one fight in 2013 vs a limited contender from the bottom half of the top 10 at 168... who couldn't actually make 168. It's just becoming harder and harder for Ward to justify 2M fighting that kind of schedule, especially with average ratings and less than 10K at some arena in California. Hershman might word it a bit differently to Ward, but yes.
Yes. How long ago was that now? We all know Froch is very beatable, not a win to elevate you to #2 P4P imo but you may not agree. All he's done since is beat the corpse of the overhyped Dawson at the end of his career and it took him 10 rounds. Stevenson did him in 1 at 175, just to put that win into perspective. Oh and Edwin Rodrigeuz
Cloud was more accomplished than Rodriguez (Stevenson) Cleverly was more accomplished than Rodriguez (Kovalev) Barker, Murray and Macklin were as legit as Rodriguez except with more experience in world level fights (Sturm / Martinez / Golovkin) ...that's just off the top of my head. :think
Cloud was woefully inactive and had basically lost his last two fights. How is that a legit challenge if Dawson and Rodriguez weren't? Cleverly sure as hell wasn't as accomplished as Dawson. You just said Barker, Murray, and Macklin are AS legit as Rodriguez. Well then if Rodriguez was not a legit challenge, then neither were those guys. And none of them were as legit as Dawson.
I actually agree with that, but none of that is recent. He was on a fantastic run and it has just stopped completely. His last fight was a comeback fight, as im sure his next one will be he is that inactive. And i dont have any 160-175 on my P4P list (exept Ward) He should be fighting guys that fans like us want to match him against. Kov, Stevenson, GGG. He has not acheived enough yet to be saying them guys havent earned it and dont make sense Everyone got an opinion and a lot share mine on Ward so im not exactly chatting ****. And thats what im saying, there is a good handful of great fights for him around his weight class and all he is interested in doing is calling out Floyd and Chavez jr, all for an easy payday. Id like to see him take a risk, hes good enough, go and fight Stevenson is Quebec
Golovkin's people have already stated they have no interest in fighting Ward at this time. Kovalev and Stevenson are being setup to fight eachother.
Dude Dawson was FINISHED. Lost multiple fights and was drained down to 168, all while the rumour mill was going about Dawson having a terrible camp and struggling to make weight. The main thing is we all knew Ward would beat Dawson, as we already knew Ward was elite Kovalev fighting Cleverly is different imo, we did not know yet what level Kovalev was at. Cleverly was a world champ, undefeated and a lot on here viewed that as a 50/50 fight even if they dont say so now So in their respective careers, Kov vs Clev was more of a LEGIT challenge than Ward vs Dawson. If Ward beat him at 175, its a different story. Thats the issue with draining opponants, the excuse writes itself.
True, so why not put an offer on the table to GGG anyway. Either GGG accepts or refuses, either way it makes Ward look good. Why not accept the challenge when Stevenson called him out? In fact, im sure if Ward put an offer down tomorow to either Kov or Stevenson then either will accept the challenge Why not offer George Groves before he signed the rematch? he went as far to say he would 'consider' fighting him Ward was all good after the super 6 to mention that he wants to move to 175 and fight Kovalev, then Kovalev gets a couple of big wins and now we hear nothing from Ward
Dawson had lost 1 fight prior to that fight. Furthermore, Dawson volunteered to come down to 168 and said it wouldn't be a problem. You can't criticize Ward for that after the fact. Look at Golovkin. He is a career MW who says he can make 154 for a fight against Mayweather. Now let's say Floyd took him up on that offer and then whipped Golovkin's ass, would you really have turn around and try to say the win is meaningless because Golovkin was drained? That would be silly. And even a drained Dawson is a bigger challenge than Cleverly.
