so i cant vote i dont belive that it was either on the poll i belive that it was a good early performance by PW and then a close overall decision that workrate and will to win was the majority factor
Paul Williams won that fight fair and square and by the looks of the 12th round had much more left in the tank than Margarito if they had continued
I think I know what you are tying to say, but still. You can't assign something to a hypothetical that didn't happen.
I don't like either of the choices. But i'll pick the Activity factor. Paul beat Margo, I have no problem with that, but I didn't see him as superior. It was a close fight, and I saw Williams get hurt in the 11th, but handled himself well. Margo was never hurt, he just didn't do enough to get the victory.
i picked choice 2 but it wasnt a illusion he won it was close though and had margo done a little more he would have won but as far as williams now having more experience and bein able 2 dominate a rematch thats a joke wat experience did he gain he lost to a guy he was supposed 2 beat easily in quintana then knocked him out in rd 1 cus he quintana was at the end of a punch i think quintana was winning rd 1 of the second fight until he got cuaght wit that shot and andy kolle who was there to be knocked out him gaining experience of 2 two bumbs is a joke stop that nonsense
The poll options are a bit extreme on either side. I wouldn't say he is clearly superior fighter to Margo, but on the night it was a close but clear win. I can definitely understand how people who score for the cleaner shots over guys who attempt to rack up meaningless points (in terms of physical effect). But the implication that Williams won and was the equal or lesser fighter implies that Margo is some kind of intelligent boxer who picks his shots. When much like Williams (although in style they differ completely) he relies on a freakish chin and incredibly high workrate. Margo is definitely capable of beating Williams on his night but that doesn't really change anything to do with the last fight. Why lop superior handspeed in with his ridiculous reach and height advantage as though its something that isn't well respected?
The highlighted parts are what I saw. At this time I have seen nothing that convinces me that Paul Williams is clearly superior and am of the opinion that if they fight again in the next 2 years or so, Margarito will be more aggressive off the jump and will win by wide UD or late TKO. But Paul is young and may not yet be peaking in his abilities. If Marg rests too long on his laurels as PW is aggressively seeking to improve his game, he may find himself wishing he had attempted to avenge his loss sooner.
Williams was the bussier fighter in the first fight and Margrito gave up a lot of early rounds having started very slow. That's what I saw.
Of course the answer is "none of the above". Williams won those first 6 rounds and clearly won round 12 after taking some of Margo's best shots in the 11th. I see a rematch going similarly with Williams winning the first rounds while Marg wins a lot of late rounds, ending in another close decision for Williams. Margo aint gonna stop him as some have suggested. And no he did not have Williams dazed in that first fight. That's just revisionist embellishment. He hurt him but he never wobbled him.
True, these options do have harshness to them. However, these are the terms in which the vast majority of observers have classified the victory. One or the other. Just look at the results.
Look, check this out lol. Didn't AM beat Clottey? Who looked like they were looking in the mirror getting ready to go to a dance, and who looked like they were in a trainwreck afterwards? Second, Williams in everyone's eyes beat AM clearly. We all saw AM come back and push hard, and even cut Williams, but Williams sealed it with the 12 convincingly. AM did block a lot of AM's shots, but Williams landed more clear punches. They say AM started too late, but his game plan was to see if Williams would get tired, and he did get a bit tired. He threw many punches. Who are the many who had AM winning?
IMHO...not a good analogy....Cotto hit Margo with everything but the kitchen sink in there for the first 6 rounds...and Margarito still came out looking like nothing happened. And Cotto arguably punches harder than Williams. The remetch should tell us more...In the first Williams just purely outworked...throwing tons of shots...he slowed down in the second half and Margarito closed the gap...but still lost a few rounds...and Williams won it.
Not much of a selection you got there with the poll. So I will pick the first because waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy before the fight took place; Williams talked about a fight with Margarito, with a grin. Like he just knew for sure he could beat him. He said that he worked with Margarito as a sparring partner and he seemed to think he got the best of him then. ... They finally fought and he got the best of him then too. 8-4 Williams
