What year or after what fights in terms of: *fighters conditioning *Fight popularity/demand *Monetarily Thoughts brothers Dipset4Ever
Start of 2010 for me. Pac's 2009 was Hatton and Cotto - he never looked better than in those fights to me. Floyd had the resounding victory over JMM in September, 2009, so he was at the top of his game as well. Obviously both guys are still the number 1 and 2 in the world no matter what order you have the 2 of them in, but for me, they never both looked better in the ring than 2009. With both guys at the peak of the games, the demand was massive, the money would have been huge - gutted it didn't come off for whatever reason.
:deal Last time that both were at peak. Mayweather has slowed a touch since then, and Pac has slowed a fair bit. What we'd get now, would be a watered down version.
What they all said. . . Or MAYBE, at latest, after Mayweather picked apart Mosley, and Pacquiao shut out the previously "unshutout-able" Clottey. . . Clottey is so much better than he gets credit for. . . In fact, he was one of the examples people would use as to a "full sized WW" that Manny would never fight/could never beat after he beat Oscar, and Hatton. Clottey would have beat Mosley just as bad as Winky Wright beat him. Anyway, back to the topic. . . After their spring 2010 fights (march, and may), the fight would have been perfect for an end of the year showdown.
Straight after Pacquiao beat Cotto. It's still relevant if they fight at the end of this year, SRL v Hagler happened past their primes but it was still a superfight, and it still enhanced Leonard's legacy
The peak time was for 3-13-10. The date that Pacquiao walked away from the 50/50 split that he's looking for today. Floyd agreed to the split even though he could've been on his high horse the way he is now. DLH and Hatton gate and PPV numbers with Pacquiao are significantly lower than Floyd's. Being a part of the fight that broke all records can make someone's ego sky high. With all of that said, he was still willing to give the man a even split. All he asked was for drug testing. The peak was for 3-13-10 and now the fight is never going to happen with Floyd moving up to 154, where at 35, I'd imagine he's going to remain. Floyd's not budging on the split and Manny can only blame himself for blowing his shot over drug testing.
The Pacquiao who fought Cotto The Mayweather who fought Hatton or Marquez. This would be the most interesting fight IMO
right after hatton-pacquiao. the last two opponents pac fought were the same ones floyd fought but he won them more impresively, so that's when the fight should have happened. i couldn't give a rats ass what these two wannabe warriors do now.
this is a very simplistic and narrow view of the situation. negotiations are going well until floyd's camp accused pac publicly of doing PEDs and to rub salt to injury, they demanded that "simple" drug test. and who knows if floyd really is ok with 50/50 in the first place? his father and his team had said in the beginning that they would never fight pacquiao. as for the answer to the thread question, anywhere from late 2009 to late 2010 is a good period for this fight to happen.
