Many experts say he could have ended his career after the "Rumble In the Jungle" but we would not have seen "The thrilla in Manilla".

Maybe the Ali-Frazier 3 the damage was already set. Or maybe it was genetic but what do you think would have been the best time for Ali to retire?

I think after the final Ken Norton fight! I watched that fight and he still looked good...Every fight after that he looks like a different fighter!

    After Foreman,after Spinks II.
Who cares,he still is the Greatest.

  4. After his 3rd fight with Frazier, Ali said he felt like he was near death in that fight, he should have listened to that omen and retired after that 75 fight..

Yeah i think the last frazier fight would have been a great way to end. We would have missed the last Norton fight but he would have gone out on a tremendous victory.

Seeing Larry Holmes against Ali is one of the saddest moments in fights i have seen.

Exactly. Same as Sugar Ray Leonard should have retired after he beat Duran for the third time.

On the plane on the way home from Manila. Norton III at the absolute latest, but even then, probably too late. After Manila...it would have spared us having to watch all of the garbage that came after..and there was a lot of garbage.
