How does your coach have you do it. I have seen videos of guys working the pads fast to fast for the coach to shout instructions. My coach will say: Jab Overhand right left hook roll left hook roll and step out These videos that I see the boxer throws different combo's so fast that they have to be determining what to throw at an earlier time.
We use a different type of number system each number represents a specific combo, so if I say 4 my fighter should know what set of shots to throw. it takes months in the gym to learn but once they get it down it sticks with them usually if they have been consistant enough in the gym.
i do pad work whenever the guy is free, somtimes i've just done 4 rounds of hard heavy bag punches, so i'm slow and weak by the time i do the pad work. i hope he takes that into account!
My trainer would use the number system for jabs and right straights. 1 - Jab 1,2 - Jab, right straight 3 - J, RS, J 4 - J, RS, J, RS If he wanted me to throw some hooks or uppercuts, he'd just say so after he threw a number out there.
I like that bro. I just started doing some training with some folks. I will use that when they are ready for it (I get the new cats). When Im traing my trainer usually ends up saying the longer combos once, we do it slow a couple times, then a few full speed so hes not constantly saying it. Then we move on to a new one. Its fast though sometimes I could not tell you what we just did. But it just becomes memorized by the muscles in the ring and in training. I trip because I would have to really think if you asked me what specific combos we do.
