When your favorite fighter lost

I normally would have felt bad but at the time there was King Khan therefor I did not feel bad.

 

Erik Morales getting KTFO by Danny Garcia in their second fight. That one sucked bad.

 

Felt off after JMM-Floyd. Like the fight just wasn't supposed to happen.

 

When Hagler lost to Sugar Ray, I was 15 years old. I'm now 41 and I've never really gotten over it.

 

Cotto battered by Margs was a depressing night.

Went to Denny's afterwards and sat and played with my food.

Also when Jermain Taylor got stopped by Pavlik that hurt me deep because Taylor got me into boxing

DLH's last few fights were sad to watch as a big fan of his. Him getting trolled and robbed in the Trinidad fight ant the Mosley rematch was tough too. He clearly started caring less about boxing after Trinidad, and his devotion to the sport was really killed for good after Mosley II. I can't blame the guy, but still hard to watch as a fan.

Watching Manny get screwed vs. Bradley was sad, nowhere near as bad as Marquez IV though. Always liked Pacquiao, sad to see him like that. I wouldn't even want to see that happen to somebody I disliked, like Mayweather or Broner.

Nowadays, Canelo, Matthysse, Golovkin, and Uchiyama are my favorites alongside Manny, but I can't see myself taking any of their losses all that hard when/if they happen.

 

Not many people will feel the same about this one but I was gutted when Hamed got beaten by Barrera, I was pretty young and not very clued up at the time and thought Hamed was unbeatable lol. That was the day reality kicked in for both myself and Hamed.

I was also gutted with Hatton's loss against Mayweather. He was totally dismantled in the 2nd half of the fight and I'd never seen Hatton like that before. At the same time though I couldn't help but admire Mayweather's performance he was awesome.

Was depressed for a long time after that one.

 

Not so big a deal as others but I felt bad when Cotto lost to Austin Trout.. He was always going to lose to Pacquiao, always going to lose to Mayweather, and I was so sure he'd catch a break and win.

 

I can give a few examples but the one that probably hurt me most was watching(2 days after,avoiding the result) was when Terry Norris destroyed Ray Leonard.
Ray looked completely outclassed against a guy who despite his excellence, would've been doing well to be on the main undercard bout of a Ray bill.
I read a Thomas Hauser story on it a few years later and it was as if he shared the exact same thoughts I had watching.
I had felt lucky to be able to see Ray come back as I was a bit young for his prime (79-82) but I had a feeling in the rematches with Tommy and Duran that something wasn't right.Ray's hubris let him go in with a hungry young fighter with the sort of reflexes that were long gone for Ray.
It was brutal and it's probably the only fight of his I haven't watched twice.

I had a bad feeling when Barrera fought Khan but I knew it should never have happened.
At 18,I was only just realising the danger of age for a guy like Ray,who I thought was superhuman.
God, it's like remembering an accident you were involved in.

 

Man,I have such a story to go with that fight,and even though I was distracted,it was still horrible to watch.

There are certain fighters I like, but haven't really been upset if a fighter has lost, I'm not a "fan" of specific fighters but there are certain fighters I love watching...it's more of a shame when a great legend that I like is beaten...Roy Jones Jr definitely comes to mind as does the sight of Erik Morales shaking his head at his dad as if to say "No more" after Pacquiao KO'd him in the 3rd fight. Cotto's beatdowns against Marg and Pac were so bad that felt sorry for him also
