Kelly Pavlik has the best game in the sport :deal

It amazes me that you still see elite fighters, and champions who just cannot employ the proper strategy for this. Oscar De La hoya did absolutely dog**** when Floyd was against the ropes. Hatton did dog**** as well. Overcommitting, Getting excited, trying to KO, throwing blind flurries hoping to land something. Is this what these guys were taught since they were fresh out of diapers?? :huh Oscar De La Hoya's boxing skills are on level with Floyds, not as crisp, but pretty damn close. Now giving Floyd the disadvantage of not being able to back up, he actually would have the upper hand in a boxing match. :deal What he needed to do was push Floyd back and turn it into a boxing match with Floyds heels on the ropes. Not a slugfest. He needed to keep his distance and work off his jab, not crowd him and keep him pinned with his body. Keep him pinned with jabs and combinations. Whenever Floyd tries to move, he isn't in an ideal position to defend....so hit him.

If you have any questions on what I'm talking about, watch what Kelly Pavlik does when he gets someone on the ropes. He is calm, calculating, patient and ****ing visciously effective. :good

the difference is that Pavlik is so powerful he can punch through his opponent's guard which is not so easy for some of the not so powerful punchers.

Usually when an opponent is against the ropes he tends to try to block punches rather than bob and weave, which is a horrible tactic against a power puncher like Pavlik who takes his time and can bust through a guard.

Pac is also a guy you don't want to be caught in the ropes against with. Everytime MAB, Morales and JMM are on the ropes, Pac does serious damage.

Oh, you mean the one clip you emptied a container of vaseline and smoked a pack of cigarettes in satisfaction too  Yeah, that was a nice counter by Floyd. 2 of his "landed punches" that ACTUALLY landed.
