Rashad has a lot of power, quick hands, and is not a bad counter fighter himself. He destroyed Griffin with ground and pound after about 5 seconds on the ground, and Griffin has a very good ground defense.
His fight with tito when he got caught in the triagle. I think the judges gave that round to tito ortiz.
Well, after some semi-extensive googling, I came across a very interesting article, which answers my question in satisfying detail. If that still isn't crazy enough, read the full articles here http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2009/1/27/738101/neither-georges-st-pierre http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2009/1/31/743047/statistics-prove-lyoto-mac Notice the part about how the author mentions that the p4p rankings are consistent with the SApM rankings. And Fedor is the only guy to beat Machida in that regard!!!
Liddell wasn't outstriking anyone in the second round with Rashad. Rashad backed Chuck off with counters when he tried to corner him at the being of the round then timed him and hit him with that 1-2 combo four or five times before the KO. Evans was clearly winning that round. I agree about the first two rounds of his fight aginst Forrest though.
Machida is hard to outpoint because his striking philosopy is very different from a fighter with boxing or muay thai training. A boxer/kickboxer lets himself be in the "pocket", and he'll be frequently in range of his opponent's punches/strikes. He just prepares for those hits by practicing better head-upper body movement, blocking and checking kicks. It's like a circus performer putting his head inside an alligator's mouth, and just trusting his experience and reflexes enough that he knows he wont get killed. Machida very rarely stays in the "pocket". He's in and out very quickly. And his natural fighting distance from his opponent is so far away, that the only way you can catch him is if you go forward, attack him (and be countered) or you be a counterstriker and catch him when Lyoto's attacking mindlessly. (good luck with that) He's like "I aint gonna put my damn head inside that gator's mouth. That's crazy. I'm just gonna stay a few feet away, and if that croc attacks, I'll just keep on poking it with a long stick to keep it at bay."
You heard anyone mention enigma and Lyoto in the same sentence? He is as steady and predictable as it goes in MMA. He is not a puzzle, he is not a mystery. But yeah he is a difficult problem for his opponents, youre bound to get a thing right..:goodhuhatsch
Just stfu you autistic, look up the word enigma. Or whatever, lets just say he's 'well rounded, evolving all he time, elusive', and every other cliche you've heard Joe Rogan say and parrot on here under the impression you're actually saying something intelligent. :good
you are a childish ****** posting pics all over this forum. You have nothing to contibute except for your long winded pretentious rant over at the lounge. Go ahead look up the word enigma..Lyoto is the farthest thing from being enigmatic. If you want to apply the word enigma from his opponents perspective, fine. But Lyoto is not an enigma as a fighter, one of the few fighters you know what you'll get from. Go make a poll.
