Any locals know a good place where we could all meet prior to the fight and go for a Carlsberg (!!!) or two?
There is a huge choice mate as the venue is perfectly situated in the middle of the nightlife.......The local walkabout is huge & OK but everywhere is going to be busy.....
Everwhere is going to be busy...so...if we colonise a place, we might all have a chance to bump into one another...this is why we need to pick a place or two...
Decebal the best place to go will be The Prince of Wales bar, part of the Whetherspoons chain. its big with 2 floors, very close to the train station AND the stadium, good prices. It'll be full of people going to see the fight. Thats where me and my mates will be.
I don't live in Wales, but I envy you guys that do.The buzz and anticipation of a local big fight is one of the greatest sensations I've known.I'l never forget what it was like in the New York area when Ali and Frazier staged their classic in Madison Square Garden, March 8, 1971.There was no telecast in bars, or pay per view, and it was too far away and expensive for me to venture to any of the closed circuit venues, but that didn't stop me from fully feeling the excitement in the air.I was able to tune in some distant hard to hear round by round summerys from some scratchy AM station, but that was okay for me.Enjoy the fight fellows, and have a pint for me.
Sorry dude but Wetherspoons is ****. More atmosphere in my back garden than a Wetherspoons. They dont even have a music licence, the only thing going for Wetherspoons is cheap beer
I have planed with a guy Peter5 to meet at a pub named O'Neills . you can find it on this map. Hope to see a lot of you guys there. http://www.cardiffpubs.co.uk/
YesIhavearm's suggestion sounds nice though, being close to the stadium and all. As long as there aren't 20,000 trying to get in... Else I am all for O'Neills, where we can find THN, his collegues and Peter5.
We could go to O'Neills first...it looks nice..and if there isn't enough space, try the other place which is well located and big.
Dunno what shithole you live in mate, but most of the Whetherspoons I go to are good. The bigger venue's DO have a music licence. Decebel, the O'Neils on high-street is decent, aswell as the Walkabout. All good places to go to
