Chavez took a beating but came on incredibly strong at the end.

Can we please stop making a big deal out of the fact that Chavez cuts weight for fights....like dozens of other fighters??

Not that point. He took a beating and came on strong. If he was weight drained he wouldnt have been able to.

He was being beaten because Martinez is simply a much better fighter.

He could have been doing that on heart and desperation.

if he wasn't weight drained then people can stop complaining about him being bigger than Martinez.

Martinez and Chavez both moved up to MW at the same time.

The double standards on this site are so ****in ridiculous.

Okay, and what's your point? Even a drained fighter could lose by virtual shutout?

Ever thought Chavez being much bigger and heavier has something to do with the posts that claim Chavez was bigger and heavier?

    Just an honest question...

    Chavez was clearly much bigger.

I wouldnt be surprised if cutting the weight hurts him, but hes doing it to for a big size advantage so he can bullie opponents with his style. Martinez didnt let him do this as he is a cut above the his regular standard of opposition.

people are going to complain and say he is weight drained? the guy fights at 160... its not like sergio made him come down... as a matter of fact sergio was the one chasing this fight for ages!

if he was weight drained it was his own goddamn fault.. he is trying to cheat the scales coming in ridiculously heavy he deserves to pay the price for it

Regardless if he was weight drained or not - ballooning up and down in weight like that damn sure didn't help him. Maybe he learns from this and does things the right way in a rematch.

even if he rehydrated the ~ 20 lbs, he still didn't do ****, every decent fighter who has more than 2 brain cells knows that with a minute to go in the last round, and he's lost all the rounds, he needs to go for it big time, Jr. was no different

He was weight drained but it was himself to blame. anyone who shoots back up to 20lbs+ is weight drained.

Whatever happens with his weight its his own damn fault. I can't imagine what dropping 15 pounds in a day or two would be like, then adding almost 30 pounds back even quicker. Surely that has to leave you feeling sluggish.
But that is the way the guy chooses to do things, so if it hurts him in the ring, that's on him. Maybe if he decided to be disciplined enough to slowly reduce his weight during camp and have to sweat off way less and come into the fight around 170-175 he would have more energy, or maybe the guy shouldn't be doing this at all. But he makes his own bed, and has to lie in it.
Whatever the case, the way he is cutting weight and regaining, even at his age is not going to be sustainable for very long, either he will have to be more disciplined, move up in weight, or see his career diminish greatly in a short amount of time.
His style is based solely on wearing down the other guy, but that gets really hard to do when you are dragging your own ass around the ring due to bad discipline leading up to the fight. But the guy is what he is, and I don't think anyone can convince him to do anything differently. Either he will realize this on his own, or he won't.
