He's hard to ignore now, the Wlad win could of been put down as a fluke or a the right mix of styles, or Wlad not being 100% focused but now he's put another amazing performance at this level with a comeback from possibly the worst possible place you can't deny the man is a fantastic boxer. Fury has made a strong case for being the best heavyweight on the planet again. He still needs to prove it vs Joshua but honestly now that is a pick'em fight for me.
I must admit I predicted an easy Wilder KTFO Fury. That being said, I was truly impressed by Fury who suffered an abject robbery. Amazing performance indeed.
Well I didn't think he was ready and it was too soon, tbh it may have been because he got tagged where I though prime he would have avoided Wilder... He did far better than I though he would and seeing him get up well amazing..
I doubted him. i thought it was too early for such a fight I thought he’d never be the same after the abuse he put his body under... he put in a masterclass.
Before the Wlad fight I considered him a joke. Before the Wilder fight I knew he got the skills, but after his debacles I doubted his shape, dedication and mental toughness. He proved me wrong, so (as I already posted on another thread) next time I am betting on him to win.
I thought wilder would catch fury early and get the KO. I wanted Tyson to win though. With fury I’d always cringe when his name was even mentioned alongside Ali’s, but he did an Ali in this fight. He defied the odds and did something miraculous. Got got up from that knock down when he shouldn’t have, that was Ali like. He shares that ability to think outside the box and remain calm in the most desperate situation. Coming back so early from where he was is nothing short of amazing. From thinking he had no chance I now belive he would beat Joshua, he just has too much self belief and boxing IQ, a natural fighter in a way that both wilder and AJ are not.
I was going to post about this before the flight. To remind people that a narrative was that Fury was being extremely courageous agreeing to fight Wilder, because it was early in his comeback and Wilder is such a dangerous puncher, with AJ was doing everything he could to avoid him. makes it all the more impressive from Fury , he did a fantastic job , both fighters did. Times like this I love boxing.
the issue is that wilder is a joke too. not that one is the best in recent mem obviously! occams razor. to be fair both are fringe to midlevel contenders, not jokes.
I'm really pleased Fury is back. I had my doubts but I wasn't surprised at all to see him perform like that. When he beat Wladimir I knew he was the real thing.
