The forgotten men of british boxing it seems both had talent both were tipped as future stars but have been inactive whats happened to them, are they still with frank worren?
Both have only fought the once this year. Only recent thing I've heard from Johnson was apparently he put Groves down in sparring. Cox, haven't heard much about him. Thought he got a bit lucky when winning the Commonwealth.
Cox has signed with another promoter and he was meant to be fighting Billy Joe Saunders in November, but Billy couldn't fight because of a hand injury. I think Johnson is with ****** though.
Think Johnson is running is contract down. ****** got a writer sacked for writing article about him with quotes that he was unhappy about being inactive
He is. Still with ******, but became disillusioned by the lack of fights, and having fights arranged only for War*en to pull the plug on them. I, and many others, have advised him to leave War*en at the earliest opportunity. Also, cheques bouncing from War*en (a common theme with him, I understand). Johnson has opened his own gym in his home town. Just hope that he can get his boxing career back on track in the near future.
It was at the Hayemaker gym, some time ago. I understand it to be a true story, but I wasn't there myself. Adam Booth has said that Callum was one of only two people who have ever really troubled Groves in sparring.
I remember Froch made a smart remark about it, think he tweeted Callum something along the lines of "Nice left hook" with a wink.
I'm the biggest Naz fan of all time. But his management skills weren't up to scratch, I'm afraid. We were telling Callum about upcoming fights that he had scheduled, usually after reading about them online, and he had no idea that he even had fights coming up, cos Naz would never contact him to let him know.
same thing happened to Billy Dibb he had a brief spell with Naz then ****ed off to the states said Naz showed little interest and never was in contact with him
You have to wonder why Johnson went with Naz in the first place. Yeah he's a big name in British boxing and was a bit of a someone in the 90's, but since retiring what exactly has he done to show he can bring fighters through? He hasn't done anything of the sort. Johnson was either poorly advised in the first place or made poor judgement himself choosing that option.
