Come on man. Paulie is garbage. I cant believe people thought he had a shot. I mean sure Hatton looked like crap in his last fight with Lazcano but Lazcano has some good pop in his punches and thats what Paulie doesnt have.

Paulie is garbage at elite level as proven last night. Before last night he had a good chance of beating Hatton didn't he......the fact that so many picked him makes this an even better win for Ricky. And you don't necessarily need pop to beat Hatton.

Good to see the Americans admit they ain`t got anyone exciting coming through. That`s why nutters on here were suggesting that JC was ducking Pavlik and Dawson!! :verysad

boxing in america must have big world title fights taken to the regions.

it must drum up intrest from the backyards of the local fighters and must take boxing away from PPV.

boxing in the nevada desert is killing boxing as a spectator sport.

i think american tv execs and some american promoters are living in the past and not seeing things clearly.

jermain taylor v lacy did ok because it was in arkinsaw.

    this makes sense to me.

having malinaggi who drew just a few hundred supporters in his last fight in america fighting in las vegas is silly.

tarver v dawson is a prime example.

what the **** was that fight doing in vegas.

more people que up for a burger at half time than attended that fight.

then the fight lacks atmosphere and is dull to tv.

look at virgil hill fighting at home.
    he brought the crowds out.
    showing it can be done.

look at the packed houses in canada for bute
    the sell out`s in germany
    japan getting big crowds.

crowds are a big part of boxing, promoters looking to cover there site fees by having fights in the middle of nowhere are slowly cutting there own throats.

It did pretty well at the gate....but you're fighting in Vegas where neither fighter has footholds in the area.

Part of the problem is instead of fighting in the hometown/home area of a fighter they just shove everyone into some theatre/casino in Vegas. It maximizes the cash flow but at the same time destroys any sort of hometown crowd.

This whole US vs UK is getting rather ridiculous. We settled that score in 1776 jk. But in reality, there were even UK fans who had doubts about Hatton, and in looking at both fighters, especially in there last fights, it was fair to say each had a 50/50 chance. I just think the difference was Maywheather. This was the first time I've seen Ricky move his head, duck, use a jab, and counter effectively.

Good post. If promoters want to save the future of boxing they need to bring it back to the people. Instead of selling 1000 people a 100 dollar seat, they need to sell 50.000 people a 10 dollar seat. This fight should have been in either Manchester or New York.

Partially,he was the big underdog vs Cotto and he did a good job for himself showing some heart and will and chin to go the distance after the bad begginging(cut,KD).This fight really sealed the deal in what was an even money fight

Agreed. As I've said before, Vegas has eliminated the hometown crowd.

Sometimes I think we should organize a petition with all the big boxing boards and send it to the promoters. Then I wake up and realize it won't matter.

    :lol::lol:

I know how ya feel. It's funny how if a fight doesn't happen on the West Coast it almost gets downsized in priority.
