For such a growing sport, Im starting to worry when the stars of today eventually retires.

    Silva is retiring this year.
Couture and Chuck are past it
    Tito, Wandy is done
    Fedor is over 30.

GSP by is the only one who has maybe 5 years of high level competing to go. BJ probably will fight two more years.

Then theres the Rashads and Machidas of the world, theres just no charisma to these guys.

Cung Le is good but hes also not that young

Meanwhile, for a dying sport, boxing has alot of young prospects to take over the mantle for a few more years, JML, Gamboa, Dawson, Kirkland, even a Khan if he bounces back. I wont even list the 08 amateurs who just turned pro. Lots of young guys on the horizon, Martirosyan, Andrade etc etc.

Its almost like MMA needs an amateur league to hone their talent and skills. Not TUF. Theres just no buzz to any up and comers, theyre just not promoting anyone. Sure theres alot of competitions, but its all different disciplines, JJ, Wrestling, Grappling, kickboxing..it may be too much. They should just have an MMA world championships for amateurs with age brackets

But you would think that for a growing sport who gets massive exposure. I mean just look at the PPV numbers and merchandises. Its thru the roof. I know every 16 year olds now are doing MMA. Wherever you look "Yo! Ill guillotine your ass"

Yet I dont know of any up and coming star??. The UFC has this show TUF but they turned it into a soap opera with veteran pro fighters instead of a real competition show.

This guy Hazelett for example, hes got all the talent in the world. Yet no one knows this kid. He should have come from a TV show. Whats going to happen now is hes going to get fed to GSP sooner or later and get dismantled and that will be it. Theyre just wrongly promoted

I really really like Donald Cerrone just as long as he keeps his hands up especially that left.

See thats the one from the WEC. Which really gets no exposure. They should have Friday night fights MMA edition. Showcase the talent so that they can build a mainstream following with every fight on free TV.

Well im sure plenty of people will tune in Sunday for Pulver-Faber II just because of who they are. Hopefully they take a look at Cerrone and Varner I like Varner to but with alittle more seasoning I think Cerrone can be an elite fighter but so much serious potential is there. If he just kept his hands up he would have totally dominated Rob McCullough even more then he did but I give him credit for taken them big shots in the 1st and bouncing right back up.

Also trains with Bang Ludwig and IMO thats a wonderful sparring partner another top level Muay Thai guy at 155. Throw in guys like Leonard Garcia and Damacio Page to train with at Jacksons they guy has great people around him to work with while Greg Jackson oversees it all.

Yup its everyone and most of them we just havent seen yet. Theres a guy at my school whos 7-0 and a amateur Champion currently he has a outstanding work ethic, ever improving BJJ,was a decorated wrestler here in Maryland 2001 state Champion and some damn near Vitor Belfort like handspeed. He will be contending for the WEC 145 Championship one day. Theres plenty of these guys out there all over the world the talent is better then ever.

Thales Leites, Thigao Alves, Eddie Alvarez, Shinya Aoki, JZ, Luis Cane, Thiago Silva, Mo Lawal, Jim Miller, Cain Valasquez, Rafael Feijao, Jacare , Gerad Mousasi, Carlos Condit, Andre Galvao.

Honestly, UFC could through jobbers in with Brock and still kill PPV.

i think fighters peak at different times and its very dangerous for a 21 year old fighter to fight a 30 year old guy because the 30 year old guy could cripple the young guy and the sport would loose a lot of talent.

Fighting in smaller shows; there is only so much room in the top orgs.

Most of the young fighters work in smaller shows until they have built up experience and then org's like the ufc higher them
