Where are they now? Razor Ruddock

He sure is. Being a trainer is not as glamorous as it seems. Very few guys make it to the elite level and even the greatest trainers only come accross a handful if any great talents and often times are let down or disappointed as their work hardly ever fully pays off and it's a long long road. Becoming a great trainer in my estimation is similar to having the natural gifts of a good fighter. It takes a person who can see things that most cannot. It amazes me how many unqualified trainers are working with elite fighters. Look at Cottos trainer for example. That guy has absolutely no knowledge of boxing yet he was running the corner in one of the biggest fights recently Even his pad work was **** poor.
As far as books on Eddie Futch I don't know of any but he been interviewed quite a bit in various mags.

Ronald R. Frieds Corner Men and In The Corner by Dave Anderson.

 

He was n Toronto …. Divorced his wife 2021 and went back to Florida !!!! 2024 !!

Interesting. Ruddock looks like a tank, despite being not much above 200 pounds at that time. (He looks about 225 to me). He's also significantly shorter than Holmes despite both being billed as 6'3". That's definitely Larry, though. There's no mistaking his peculiar movements.

 

Ruddock made a comeback in boxing around the age of 50. Up in Canada I believe. He won a few then got KOd by some giant 6-10! Canadian Champion. I don't know if he kept going after that.

Ps s friend of mine in the uk / k rainford watched ruddock spar then watched Lennox spar and he thought Lennox was gonna get knocked out ( against ruddock ) Lewis didn’t look great that day …. The day he saw ruddock sparring he was using two hands and putting sparring partners out !!!!!
And we all know what happened …, that stupid jab to the body and Lewis threw that straight right hand right on ruddocks temple and he never recovered !!!
It’s a shame he took such a long lay off after the Lewis bout but he had janks morton a former trainer who was suing ruddock for $1 million ( I have it on court tv ) ruddock lost the case … his nite club razors palace went bankrupt …. He finally came back without murad Muhammad and don king promoted one of his fights against Anthony Wade !! He didn’t look great despite putting Wade down in rd 1 but the fight went 10 lackluster tds but Anthony Wade’s got a great chin for a fat slob !!!! Corrie sanders couldn’t put him away and Ike ibeabuchi couldn’t put Anthony Wade .. from the Lewis fight to the Wade fight was 15 month lay off after…. Then ruddock took another 16 months off to get out of his contact with don king went back to Murad Muhammad so 1o rds in 31 months going into the Morrison fight !!! Ruddock came in at 243 3/4 lbs but looked very flabby .. not tonned ,.. and looked real bloated against Morrison and was slow as molasses compared to 1991 and 1992 … at that point a truly shot fighter … Ron Lipton stopped it way too so the Morrison bout … ruddock came back 3 yrs later under Mike acrie the promoter but his career went nowhere !!! He fought Rudolpho Marin in in 1998 on USA network at 248 lbs but looked fat !!!!!! He fought ribalta and ruddock was up to 254 lbs !!! He put ribalta out badly with one huge hook !!!! In rd 1 !!! He fought Tony Larossa on Cedric kushners card came in at 250 lbs but stopped Larossa in 2 rds on cuts … he later fought Harold sconniers yes the same sconniers who put down Deontay wilder … ruddock won a split decision weighed In at 254 lbs !!! A few months later he signed to fight egerton marcus … i think ruddock trained hard for that fight he was 241 lbs but his body was tonned and looked so much better then the Morrison bout even thou that’s only a 3 lbs difference !!!! Anyway ruddock put Marcus away viciously in rd 1o he hurt Marcus with an left uppercut and about 10 seconds later he hit Marcus so hard with a right uppercut and Marcus didn’t go down but the ref stopped it … Marcus was up on feet when the fight was stopped but he had to be taken away on a stretcher !!!! Have have a perfect copy of that fight I sent Tricia ruddock a bunch of fights of Donovan and she posted it on raxor ruddocks Chanel on you tube … u will see the Marcus fight - odum - dokes - weaver - Frazier v Ellis 2 which is weird why would she put that up / foreman v Gulick is there ,,, ruddock v page is up !!!!!!!!! The fkn *****( ruddocks ex wife ) didn’t even thank me I did it for free !!! No reply thanks … nothing !!! Although I speak to Donovan regularly .. the other day he gave me **** for vaping weed !!! lol !!! Ps riddick bowe was ruddocks sparring partner in 89 when ruddock fought bonecrusher !!!! I asked him several times how did those sparring sessions go … he won’t answer / I know he’s friends with bowe …. And he met Tyson in Toronto at Tyson’s one man show yrs back !!!! After all these yrs !!!!!!!! I know ruddock doesn’t like Lennox … he says arrogant … maybe sour grapes who knows !!! Anyway I’ll shut up !!!

 

This is 1986 before Holmes fought spinks in the rematch : according to ruddock he was there 1 week with Larry !!!!
