Most boxers would have taken any deal they could get from Top rank to get the fight even if it meant selling there own granny. Difference is most fighters aren't in the position Kell is in terms of talent and longterm earning potential by having the backing of a large promotional group. They could have taken the Bradley fight in the states knowing that Kell would have to kill the fuker to get the decision- especially as one of the biggest money fighters in the history of the sport just got tucked up by the judges. Even if he won, as he wouldnt have been mandatory Arum would've had him tied up with options/ rematches and kell basically wouldnt be in control of his own career. The route they are going if kell gets past this bum next week he will fight for the IBF next year as the no 1 contendor and Hearn would surely fancy jus chances of winning the purse bid. Bradley and Baileys economic value in the states would be fairly small so the Americans probably wouldn't have a problem with the fight being over here- it would make for better Tv. Talking of TV, If Brook wins the belt im pretty sure Showtime or even HBO will show interest in him which will strengthen his position in the market even more. He could then go back to the Bradleys and negotiate on equal terms.

There's an argument on both sides

Point 1 - Eddie Hearn preaches to fighters and promoters to "take risks", well .............. this is what id call a risk, but a risk with rewards, they turned the fight down and put it to bed for what 4 months ??, and only just disclosed it, you cant really do that and expect to retain your credibility

Eddie Hearn "i wanna put on 50-50 fights, not fights where you already know who will win", "the days of gimme fights are over, fighters under my stable have to earn there stripes" ...................... enough said

Point 2 - pretty much what Dragon Punch has stated above, Kell "will be" fighting for an IBF title next year once he gets past Saldivia, and he gets a solid payday for a low risk fight (incidentally something Hearn said he wont do!!) at home, then you have to wonder how much damage has been done with Kell's party animal lifestyle and how long it takes to repair that damage to get him to world class standards, if he ever gets there! because ill bet my ass Tim Bradley isnt on the ****

    This wouln't be a 50-50 fight. Its 65-35 in Bradley's favour.

Don't get the point in taking this fight really, Bradley isn't a big draw so money would be minimal and it wastes his mandatory position which guarantees him a world title shot

    Minimal ???

It would be without doubt Brook's highest purse to date

so what happened to fighters wanting to be the best?

With Bradleys recent infamy, beating him would make Brook a star

The long term stratergy for Brook has been clear for some time.

They have identified the IBF root is the avenue they wish to explore. In 2 fights time he could be the IBF world champion which makes any potential Bradley fight much bigger. The risk to reward is just to great in my opinion. If Brook loses, he has to build again. It undoes all the hard work/investment Matchroom have done with him.

He can do what he wishes. He could fight another five pole's and people won't mind.

totally agree and wrote something similar on a different thread, the fact is EVERYTHING would have been on their terms including the dreaded judges, Kell is taking the correct route going the IBF, even though i think Alexander would be a tough fight for him, if he were to come through that then he and matchroom have a leg to stand on in terms of bargaining power as you said

Nonsense Laz, the Carson Jones fight was supposed to be an eliminator but the IBF ordered the Saldivia fight as a final eliminator.

If Brook beats Saldivia, becomes mandatory & then fights 5 Poles he will deservedly get a lot of stick.
