Dan Raphael said Jones might have made as much as $100 million, but now fights on only because of financial difficulty. Where did he spend all his money? He hasn't lived small by any means, but I don't recall crazy stories of him blowing money a la Tyson, Holyfield or Mayweather. Anyone know?
Im not sure he actually is fighting becausde of financial difficulty. I honestly believe that he wants to keep fighting because he loves it and wants to win at cruiserweight. Ive never seen any proof that the guy is suffering financially. He still has his lucrative commentating gig even outside of boxing.
bull****,jones is loaded i would not believe any that ****. same with tyson, that ****s got millions upon millions left
From what I have heard and read Jones has plenty of cash. Investments, promotion business, think I heard he had a farm or ranch or something too. Just fighting cos he loves it, and fair play to him, his life.
That was my thought too. It seems you could dig yourself out of a hole (if you had too) with the steady commentating gig.
The only reason people speak of Jones having any kind of financial problems is bc he owed back taxes which he already took care of. The dude has plenty of money left and on top of that he is still making money to add to what he already has.
Roy Jones could start a record label or make movies. He could be an action star. Also he's in TV doing commentary. He will never be broke. He's like Ray Leonard in charisma or George Foreman. He is not James Toney.
He already did that and it failed and it is where he sunk most of his money into. The guy is flat broke. I don't know why we have delusional people on here that think otherwise. He has no money.
:roflatsch what do you think he made from that pathetic fight he was in on Saturday? Especially after taxes and expenses? :roflatsch He didn't even get paid for the Hopkins fight because he brokered a deal where Hopkins got all the money on the front end and Jones got the rest. Well, the fight didn't sell worth a **** and there was NO MONEY left after Hopkins got paid. Dan Rafael wrote a blog about it.
Well if he REALLY needed the money he would be bothering with small time money fighting then would he? He'd make more money being on HBO commentating. You've shown zero evidence that the guys broke. As I thought.
Manny steward has the HBO commentary contract and they only call Jones when Manny's not available so thats out the window.
