Without a doubt the best Roy Jones ever was supermiddleweight 1993-96. His wins/performances over James Toney, Sugarboy Malinga and Thomas Tate were just exceptional. Toney had never lost - got trounced (much to my disappointment). Malinga and Tate had never been stopped - got brutalized. 168lbs was the best Roy ever, but by '96 it was a bit of a wasteland, hence his move to 175. It was a shame that tragedy befell Gerald McClellan, because Jones vs G-Man would've been the fight after Benn-McClellan, but it wasn't to be. That fight would have told us even more about how great Roy was, whether he could deal with G-Man's incredible power and ferocity.

Never showed much at middle, Wolfe and Tate KOs aside, but at super-middle against Percy Harris, Malinga, Pazienza, Thornton and Brannon he was sick - ill even.

At light-heavy he had some great KO's - Griffin, Hill, Johnson, Kelly. And an entertaining performance against Hall. But also some great KOs against ;)

Best at super-middle with the combos and multiples, most ripping and untouchable and looked natural weight.

    Best at 168 no question...

We can pretend to ignore his losses at 175, but it would need to be a different question.

This is the best Roy Jones Jr has ever looked. The summit of his prime.

In this fight not only was he physically his best, but he was technically his best. He had the best jab I've ever seen in boxing on display. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pJlNvkSf1s[/ame]

I don't believe any boxer in the history of boxing would have stood a chance against the Roy Jones Jr you see in this fight. Vinny Paz was a 4 time world champion fighting in my opinion one of the best performances of his life and he actually looked good all around and didn't just got outclassed but couldn't even land a punch on Roy.

Most important, look at the amazing footwork in the knock out sequence. I have never seen anyone else do a knock out like that in the history of boxing with that kind of footwork and punching from all angles.

Mind you Paz broke his neck not long before and was a 5ft5 blown-up featherweight years past his best regardless.

But yes the speed of the jab and the finishing combo were immense.

That is no excuse. This is the best Paz I've seen to be honest despite his broken neck. The fact is Roy didn't just display the jab, he displayed everything in this fight.

Just look at the insane footwork, the best probably in boxing history. Look at the stuff he did with feints, the weird chicken moves he used on James Toney, even some of the defensive moves he used in the third Tarver fight. On top of that he was landing like 70% of his punches and Paz couldn't hit him at all.

No matter who you put against this Roy Jones Jr. I don't think anyone in history beats him.
