People look at the Overeem fight as if Alistair was the same fighter then, that he is now. He gassed after fighting very well early in the first. He was a stringer ****er, his striking was not as good, and he was not nearly a finished product. Liddell was part of the hype machine, people in the ufc simply did not have the understanding of how to beat him.

He has better striking than most of the lHWs in the UFC and did have very good takedown defense. Couture beat him because he smothered his striking and was a world class wrestler. In his pride fight with Rampage we saw what happened when someone had some good striking and better wrestling.

I think I might have had him top 3, behind Fedor & Shogun, cant remember which fighters were doing exactly what in that time period but I had it like that at some point when Chuck was at his peak & his peak obviously went right up until that point before he hit the slide.
