Where do Felix Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya rank, respectively, all-time at 147?

Trinidad can be argued a top 10. Longest reign in division's history, 16 defenses, wins over De La Hoya (first time I saw it I had it a draw, without sound I score it 7-5 for Tito. If you haven't seen it watch it. Most of Oscar's flurries land on Tito's gloves or arms), Whitaker (very faded, but still the only real win over Pea), Blocker, Carr, Campas, Camacho, Pendleton, etc.

36-0 (30) at the weight. And although Tito wasn't the most skilled, the man could box. Like I said, I felt he actually deserved the win over DLH (although if Oscar did not run in one of those rounds he would have won), Hopkins was a far greater and bigger fighter, and Wright was also bigger plus when Tito was past his best, same with Jones.

I rate Robinson, R. Leonard, Gavilan, Napoles, Griffith, Walcott, and Armstrong above Trinidad. A case can be made for Walker and Burley too. Hearns beats all but 3, maybe 4 other welterweights, but he only has one really good win here, and what he did at 147lbs isn't enough for top 10 status.

DLH has the loss to Tito that could be argued his way, wins over Whitaker and Quartey that could be argued against him, a clear loss to Mosley, and wins over Carr, ancient Chavez, and Camacho (I believe at 147lbs). That's not enough for top 15, and really not enough for top 20 in perhaps the most historically deep division.

I scored it 8-4 for De La Hoya, 116-112. And I had him winning the Whitaker fight by 2 points. And I had him winning the 2nd fight with Mosley by 2 points. But I had him losing the 1st Mosley and, upon many watchings, I do concede he lost the Mayweather fight. See, there's no Oscarsexual nuthugging nonsense here, I'm not even a huge DLH fan, that's just the way I saw the Tito fight and Tito in general. Top 10-15 welterweight ever yes, great fighter yes, better than DLH I say no.
    DLH more skilled overall.

I just wish I could pack Oscar into a time-machine and program the damn thing for Sept. 18th. of 99 and just before shutting the door say, "Don't coast the last few rounds, mother****er. Everyone and thier mother n' masterbating brother's gonna give yu **** about it until the big astroid hits. Just keep whippin' on that dude's ass throughout"! Anyway, both are somewhere in the bottom part of the top 20. Indubitable truth, my friends.

    Trinidad
    Height: 5'11"
    Reach: 72 1/2in
    Weighed in at: 160lbs

    Wright
    Height: 5'10 1/2"
    Reach: 72"
    Weighed in at 160lbs

Wright wasn't bigger, he was just a guy that was tough and had boxing ability. That's the mystical magical formula that always beats Trinidad, who is immensely powerful but was very limited.

Whitaker win doesn't mean a lot, he was well past his prime by then and was never a genuine welterweight anyway, though his skills allowed him to compete there when he was a bit younger.

DLH's and Tito's records at welter are quite similar, though Trinidad made more defences, but I give DLH the lead because I genuinely believe he won their fight clearly. And Tito never faced Mosley, we will never know if he would've won so that can't be held against DLH, Mosley was quality.

Tito ranks up there with some of the all-time best welterweights ... he had 16 title defenses of his IBF strap ... had 17 title fights in that division ... 36-0 31 KO's

He managed to unify the titles ... fight 3 undefeated fighters ...

He fought Jake Rodriguez, DLH, Whitaker, Camacho, Yori Boy Campos, and Maurice Blocker.

Tito belongs top 5 status ... maybe even top 3 ... he spent the majority of his career there and had his most dominant moments at welterweight.

DLH 10-2 @ WW ... fought 10 championship fights at welterweight ... fought Quartey, Chavez, Camacho, Trinidad, and Whitaker ...

I don't count Mosley because he hasn't won a title outside of DLH and all of the elite welterweights he fought he lost to.

DLH would probably rank IMO top 15 welterweights of all-time ...

His career at welter was not close to that of Tito Trinidad ...

Neither man makes my top ten at welter, there are far too many fighters with more impressive resumes and of far greater ability than either Oscar or Felix at this weight. Mind you I still think that both men were very good fighters, just not good enough to be considered for a top ten spot in the welterweight division which historically has been one of the deepest in terms of quality fighters fighting at the weight.

Name 10 welters that had a better career at welterweight than Tito?

I'm not talking about guys fighting a few fights at welterweight ... i'm talking about guys who spent a majority of their career at welterweight ... reigned as champion for a significant amount of time ...

Tito was a champion for 6 yrs and had 16 title defenses as a welterweight champion and he remained undefeated at that weight ...

    Please convince me.

16 defenses of your title against relatively weak opposition does not make a fighter great, sorry. Trinidad was a good fighter and fun to watch but he would have been picked apart by quite a few fighters even at welter which was his best weight. Someone Luis Rodriguez for example would have boxed circles around him and disposed of him late in the fight, same goes for Napoles and Griffith had he fought either man.

As for my ranking of fighters in the top ten of a particular division my criteria doesn`t require that the fighters I choose to include be long reigning champions, my requirements are merely quality of opposition and the win-loss ratio involved and the skill of the fighter in question. Going by MY criteria I can easily leave both Oscar and Felix off my list, but if your going to place him in the top ten simply on the basis of his number of title defenses then yes Trinidad does deserve a spot in there.

Tito is one of the greatest WW ever ... he's a legend in my eyes and has accomplished alot @ welterweight alone.

I also have Tito in my top 30 non-heavyweight list ...

Alphabet soup belts are a dime a dozen these days and where back in Tito`s heyday as well... just because some of the fighters Tito defeated went on to hold a minor title at some point does not make them great fighters let alone any good necessarily.

oscar fought moseley, quartey, a much better version of whitaker, and trinidad. oscar clearly proved himelf vs better opposition of his era than tito. the only very good 147lber tito fought during his era was oscar and he got badly outclassed. 1996 whitaker, moseley, and quartey all beat trinidad.

i dont see how tito beats quartey

You need to pop your head out of de la Hoya's rectal canal a little more often and try to get some oxygen to your brain.

Because I think he won the Trinidad fight? DLH better have a big opening then, coz most of the worldwide boxing community needs to fit in there. Then all the ****rags like you left outside can live in a world where Tito won 6 rounds of that fight and be happy.
