Watch this film of a prime Ezzard Charles. I see plenty of elite movement, sticking and moving, amazing reflexes, Charles floats like he's on the moon. So fluid in his motion. Great handspeed too.

Charles in his prime was not some guy who stood in front of you and like to exchange punches....furthermore at times when he did do that when was it a bad thing? Charles had power ridiculous hand speed and great timing he was a very dangerous puncher

Mr. Charles gets sold far too short head to head these days at heavyweight.

An old fighter succumbing to an elite swarmer has tainted the rest of his reign there, and unjustly so.

At his best, he's a nightmare for more highly regarded head to head fighters like Mr. Foreman and Mr. Liston.

Charles was as slick and fluid a mover/boxer/puncher as anyone ever was in heavyweight history. The bout with Louis was Charles at his heavyweight best..I enjoy watching it to this day....regardless of how depleted Louis was. Catlike moves and purposeful aggression...it would have possibly ended inside the distance had Ezz not been so respectful of his hero. He was not just "standing in front of" Louis. When he was on the verge of depletion himself, right on the cusp of it, he showed what ***** and determination were by sucking it up in one of the most unsung displays of courage and class that I've ever seen vs Marciano. Prior to the ko loss to JJW, Charles was as total an elite heavyweight package as you could have,,,displaying speed, fluid boxing, and accurate, pinpoint ko power in ridding himself of his challengers. Charles gets the praise he deserves so badly as the ATG lightheavyweight, but he does, as Good Cop says, get sold down the river and is unfairly underrated as a heavyweight.

People don't have this opinion, only Mendoza and he isn't relevant.

Yeah, I've never heard people express such a notion of Charles being "brawl happy".

I don't buy that Charles Carried Louis. Louis busted up Charles face horribly. Charles took punishment from Louis. Charles Knew how dangerous Louis was late and didn't want to mess around so stayed away

I'm not an expert on Charles but I've read that he was a different fighter after killing Sam Baroudi. It really got to Charles and he was much less aggressive from then on.
