I think the Honetghan Curry fight was the bigger upset, nobody outside Britain knew who Honetghan was. but the Mugabi Thomas fight was a big one as well. At the time mugabi was looked on as pretty awesome. As a light middle he'd knocked out some pretty good middles and all on American tv, he'd even given Marvin a fight.
I remember watching it and put it largely down to a thumb in the eye or something in the eye.,

Mugabi was hit weird. It's a shame, 'cause I think this took a lot out of him confidence wise. He gave Marvin a whale of a battle. Of course, Marvin was definitely over the hill by this point.

Honeyghan is massive for me but seeing I wasnt there at the time I cant really understand the significance of the win in its context.

Mugabi is pretty overrated IMO...His record pre-Marvin wasnt all that and he gets a lot of mileage off a good performance against a fading and lame great.

The Honeyghan upset of Curry was bigger, given Curry's potential and standing at the time of the fight.Duane Thomas was a pretty good fighter who had a strong chance against John Mugabi. However, as mentioned before, not too many people outside of his country knew who Lloyd was.
