I think some people are just analytically inclined and others are like "empty vessels" that need exposure to natural born analysts to make sense of what it is they're watching (some of these people, once the ball gets rolling for them, can become very astute themselves if the type to catch on quickly). Without the inherent knack or the exposure you're damned to sound like an idiot talking boxing. Case in point, my girl at this point is actually able to shut down some of the blowhard casual fans in her office, just from watching fights with me and asking lots of questions and me rubbing off on her (and I'm far from one of the best analysts on here). You don't need to consult an external source like ESB for know-how if you've got a discerning mind of your own, but it certainly doesn't hurt and can only enhance.
Magic is easier guys...all of your other ways take too much time and effort. Try magic...it works!!!! Trust me!!! This content is protected
I just like talking about boxing but the sad thing is that most times I mention "the fight" over the weekend, guys just nod and say "allright" and "cool". If I can talk baseball which is a sport I pretty much hate, I expect others to talk boxing, damnit!!!!!!
My parents, grandparents, cousins, uncles, and my dads friends. It seems like around here nobody actually knows boxing. But then again i live in IOWA!!! I love when people around here act like they know **** about boxing and show their awesome form as they shadowbox. Anyways back to the subject, i started with my family and our get togethers for boxing and most of my cousins in mexico box. Even the girls. ESB is awesome though for information. By far the best boxing site i have found.
I learn about different fighters here, sometimes elsewhere. Hell, I've picked up fighters names on Boxrec from other fighters resumes and researched them, guys like Santos Benigno Laciar, one of the best Flyweights of his generation, with wins over guys like Roman, Zapata, Betulio Gonzalez, etc. Guys like this are never mentioned even on here, which is why Boxrec can be a good source if you do the research outside of a fighter's record. But most of my knowledge comes from learning about fighters on here, as well as other sources, and getting my hands on footage any way I can.
Yea, my family moved from there when I was born, now I reside in Gary, IN. Only 25 minutes away, but it ain't the same.
Naw. You get it by pounding keyboards. Ask any keyboard pounder here. Myself included. A guy came into the Y one day with a shiner. Thought since he worked out he could mix it up. I picture a lot of people here walking around with shiners. :!:
Incidentally, when a reporter asked Bernard Hopkins how he was going to beat Joe Calzaghe, he gave them the same answer. It was very unsettling
You Spare with a decent fighter who can take shots, and fight with skill. Yeah thats sufficient, in my opinion. I've seen guys get dropped ugly in sparring sessions. it gave them a whole different respect and perspective on the sport. but you don't have to get knock silly to realize what a demanding sport it is.
