yeah. that image of him flat on his back with a young tyson standing over him is problematic because it says nothing about his quality as a fighter in the years before that. in addition, holmes fighting on against all those tomato cans and goofballs and struggling, even, to take a decision against butterbean in 2002 when larry was, i believe, 50 or 51...all of it clouds what should be a terrific memory of one of the finest technicians the heavyweight division has ever seen.

i would definitely rank holmes among the top 15 heavyweights of all time...he definitely had one of the best heavyweight jabs in the history of the sport, no revelation there.

Lower half of the Top 10 Best Heavyweights of all time. Somewhere around 7 or 8.

I d rank him above Lewis, Tyson, Holyfield in fact i would say he should be top 5.

Solid resume, very very underated fighter and he was still beating good comp at 40+

Top 5 ATG HWs......Simply a beast, his jab was superb and unavoidable. His fight versus Cooney brings back so good memories of my childhood, I recall sitting around the living room at my uncle's house with the entire family watching it. My dad was a huge fan of his. And if you watched the HBO special of Ali vs Frazier when Holmes said that Ali was overrated IMHO he was right. Ali was the face of the HW div but Holmes was the MAN....... :good

His fight versus Marvis Frazier when he kept signaling Mills Lane to stop the fight because he didnt want to keep hitting Marvis at will was legendary....

They shouldn't associate him with that fight.......Mike was SO gracious back then, he even mentioned during the post-fight interview that he wouldn't have been able to touch Larry Holmes in his prime.....

Larry is EASILY a top-10 heavyweight of all time......I REALLY wanted to see him fight George Foreman, even in their comebacks:yep

Probably just inside the Top 10 ATG HWs. Had a lot of solid defences, let himself down with some losses but overall a highly skilled and talented fighter.
