Where do you have Hopkins H2H at MW?

As should you for thinking Calzaghe beats everyone aside from Jones at 160-168. As should you for placing Hopkins above Hagler. As should you for thinking Floyd beats someone like Robinson.

Greb was not at all an orthodox fighter, that little bit with him shadowboxing proves what? Nothing. You can't show how good a swarmer you are and how powerful and crafty you are in shadow-boxing. He was no boxer at all, he was a swarmer and by all accounts, a dirty, crafty fighter that would make Hopkins cringe. His style was to overwhelm you by swarming you and throwing punches from all angles. Kind of like a bigger, stronger, faster Henry Armstrong. But of course you think he's primitive as well. He would overwhelm you with speed and workrate, and when on the inside, would use dirty, roughing tactics against you. His style was not one you could figure out without some kind of big advantage of your own. In which case I'd probably pick Jones over him at 168 and 175, but I think Jones wasn't quite at his best at 160.

Anyways, we've been over all this far too often. You should've said "modern fighters". As is, here's my list:

1. Jones
2. Monzon
3. Hagler
4. Hopkins

And Monzon wasn't easy to hit, so I don't think Hopkins would hit him at will, I don't see why that is a given. Hopkins liked an outside fight in his prime as much as anyone, and against Monzon that isn't a good plan.

 

Well, if you want "fighters" H2H, I gave you my initial list. I gave you my reasoning for Greb as well. If you want modern fighters to go off of and keep this argument less complicated, do so. My opinions differ a great deal with yours when it comes to old school and modern, you know that as well as I.

 

Since this is about B-Hops a 3rd place is fair, but I think that what he's done with his career over the years has been great and at 43 still being one of the best P4P is definetly something. His style is not likely by many but he gets the job done not only by outsmarting opponents but being more skilled. I'm not a Hopkins nuthugger by any means but I'll give him the credit he deserves.
Hagler should also be in there so I'll say Hopkins or Hagler at 3rd palce, hard to choose.
