You need to know every fighter and the total history of the sport to make a list. This is very difficult and will take years of time, thats why I dont think many people have an fair atg list.
You cant just say a gy is top 25/30 without knowing everything though.
A more fair question that most people can answer properly is where do you rank floyd say from the 70's till now?

I'd have to look at a full list, but from 25-40 range closer to 30

yeah that's why it's hard. I need to look at who's ahead

exactly, but that would mean studying all the atg and hof boxers, era's, times, and compare them fairly and then rank them.
This would take so much time:scaredas:

  4. Props for not saying that Floyd is the GOAT.

Yeah, I would agree with this. ATGs lists are largely a matter of consensus, we all read about who the greats were in other eras, listen to the "experts" and then largely adopt their views as our own. Generally, unless you have conducted years of historical study, you are really only competent to rate the period of time when you followed boxing.

In any event, Mayweather looses points on my ATG list for not really facing some of the tougher challenges that were out there for him - Cotta, Margarito, Williams, and of course, Pacquiao.

45 places above pacquiao. top 20 easily, and could make a case for top ten

Maybe he might break top 50 soon. He needs more wins against great fighters. Ortiz does not help his legacy. It keeps his name popular, but does not help his legacy.
