Number 1.What a resume Frazier twice Norton twice Liston twice Patterson twice Foreman Shavers Spinks Quarry twice Terrell Foster Young Lyle Wepner Chuvalo twice Ellis Bonavena Williams Folley
It's the best resume of the last 40 years in any weight division IMO. I have Ali 5th all-time pound-for-pound. I have an elite top 7, and they are: 1.Sugar Ray Robinson 2.Henry Armstrong 3.Harry Greb 4.Sam Langford 5.Muhammad Ali 6.Ezzard Charles 7.Roberto Duran
i'm no boxing mastermind and i don't know much about a fight that went on in 1917 like some of the buffs on here but for what its worth to me ali is the number one fighter of all time. thats just the way it is for me.
co-sign sitting at 7 on my current list: 1 Sugar Ray Robinson 2 Harry Greb 3 Henry Armstrong 4 Roberto Duran 5 Sam Langford 6 Ezzard Charles 7 Muhammad Ali 8 Willie Pep 9 Sugar Ray Leonard 10 Benny Leonard
I have him a little higher..at No4.IMO,Ali's resume' alone puts him there....Never mind the skillz he had at his peak.
I don't really believe in P4P lists anymore because I think that styles make fights and nobody is unbeatable but I would put Ali in the top five in a heartbeat. He resides along with Jones (168lbs), Leonard (147lbs), Hagler, Whitaker (135lbs) and Holyfield (190lbs) among others. In my opinion all of these fighters were the best in their respective weight classes. Ali wouldn't have beat every heavyweight ever day but he would have won more than anyone else. Hence, he's the best heavyweight EVER in my opinion.
I rank Ali as the greatest HWT ever & 2nd to only Ray Robinson in p4p terms. Ali is my favourite ever boxer but every list should be headed by Robinson IMO.
For the record.... 1. Robinson 2. Ali 3. Pep 4. Duran 5. R. Leonard 6. Louis 7. Chavez 8. Jones 9. Whitaker 10. Mayweather Ps. numbers 6-9 can be switched around but this is my feeling today.
Im guessing he has SRR as the best ever so used SRL at 147 to compare with Ali... well, Im guessing, I dont know for sure.
Mayweather 10th greatest of all-time Bill? Really? You have him ahead of so so many vastly superior fighters IMO.
