I don't know that I could rank 1 through 10. I could come up with 10 names and yes definitely Ali would be on that list. Probably in my top 4. Hard to argue with SRR at #1.

Interesting to see how much love Roberto Duran is getting. I was never a fan (because of my allegiance to Ray Leonard) but I always had respect for the guy. I'd probably find a spot for him in my top 10-15, not sure I'd go as high as 4 like some have.

There are so many many greater fighters than Mayweather that I dunno where to start with him being rated 10th greatest in history, so just one word will do: MONZON.

#1 in my book. Imagine how his skills would be Magnified if he fought @ welter or middle. Imagine how any welter or middles skills would diminish if they were heavyweights.

If you ask Ali, he himself would state Louis and Johnson above him. And while I love Jack Johnson, and he is one of my all time idols and heroes, ALI beats them all in every which way shape and form. P4P there has never been a fighter as perfect as Cassius Clay the first time against Liston. He had greater handspeed/footwork than Robinson, and was better technically than the Lightweight Duran. Defensively, he was Willie Pep, and offensively, he was Joe Louis.

As a character, Ali is in a League all of his own. Can you imagine if Cassius Clay had been around in Johnson's era? He was a natural Ham Actor, and a fan of Professional Wrestling, and this carried over to the Ring. When you see Hopkins, and Toney, and Mayorga and Tarver talking **** at Press Conferences, guess where this started? Ali. Ali got his "schtick" from watching Gorgeous George interviews on NBC friday night fights. Liston had no idea what to think of this madman hollering and ranting, and banging a walking stick at the weigh in. He had his own action figure, and was on the cover of a DC Comic fighting Superman in the Ring, he flirted with Geraldine on the "Flip Wilson Show" and tried to take off Cosell's wig on ABC. He starred in a movie, about him, as himself, and stated that not even he could do himself justice.

when he dies, the Earth shall mourn and Celebrate the GREATEST of all Time, and I shall get drunk, and watch "When We Were Kings" and cry and cheer all night long.

More shocked at Chavez 7, but as my list has proven, each to their own, I won't flame you.

Mine is built on resume and the chord certain fighters have struck with me. Which is why I let Sanchez creep in at the top 10....greatest FW of all time IMO, which must mean something.

There has not been a fighter in boxing history as great as Muhammad Ali. He is the best fighter this world has ever produced, and the pfp category can not define this fighter. No matter how complete a fighter there is that is ranked the best pfp, that fighter could not deal with a PRIME Ali if they were the same size, same weight. Ali was so precise with his punches to the head that he did not need a body attack. He was hard to hit, and when you hit him, he took your best shot. He got up even when you put him down. It took an almost 4 year layoff to slow the man down, and he still showed you that his style was unique. He beat up the two biggest bullies in boxing history. He siad he is the greatest of all times, and I believe him!

This is a very good list. May at 10 is a bit premature imo but other than that, good post. People have Greb on their list, and I'm sure he belongs there, but I have never seen footage of him in a fight. I am glad that he beat the tar out of Gene Tunney who drew the color line with colored fighters though lol. Greb and Burley are two of the most unknown fighters to fight fans imo.
