There's an argument to be made that he never really lost a fight near his prime. He was penalized 5 points in the first Duran fight, which I remember thinking was excessive. I will have to watch again. But KO'd him twice in returns anyhow. Other than that he had some close fights but always squeaked it out with the exception of an 8 rounder early in his career. Is he overlooked? Did you find his style pleasing? Was he avoided by the bigger names or just bad management or bad luck?
It all resulted in very good longevity, which is impressive. He probably is a little overlooked as far as it goes. But he was at no time the best cruiserweight in the world and that's where that gets you. That said, I never actually saw the Duran fight, sounds mad.
If Wamba is overlooked, then Horace Notice is not even in view! I think on the Notice performance, which was not too far removed from the Frenchman's pomp, Wamba was lucky to be in the Cruiserweight era he was. A little earlier and prime Deleon and of course Qawi and Holyfield are taking him apart, a little later and I do not see Orlin Norris being too concerned.
