Where do you rank Derek Chisora among Vitali's best wins?

Vitali was a bit past prime vs Chisora and Briggs but still dominated, I think Vitali gained confidence from the Lewis fight and looked great vs Kirk Johnson, Sanders, and the Danny Williams who just beat Mike Tyson. Before that he was the first to stop Purity, Donald, Bean. Gomez was a good win, Sam Peter, Solis, Areola and Adamek. Vitali was ahead in every fight he had even his 2 loses.

I think he could have beaten Lewis in the rematch Valuev and His brother Vlad but for now we have to say he fought the best available in his era and came back strong

This is pretty fair. I think Solis was better than Chisora but he twisted his knee whereas Vitali hurt his shoulder in the Chisora fight.

I believe he was in after getting robbed against Helenius.

I never mentioned Arreola? I don't think highly of him at all and Chisora was a better win, no disagreement. As for Briggs, I don't think most people would pick Chisora over Briggs as far as who historically would've been the better win even with Briggs' bad missteps.

He only fought 4 top 10 guys before retiring in 2004 and lost to 2. After he came back, he again only fought 4 Top 10 guys. This time beating all of them. But still, he didn't fight the best available guys.

He was rated as a Top 10 contender by TBRB tho. Joyce is rated as the number 10 contender there now and, as Dynamicpuncher mentioned, as the number 8 contender in The Ring ratings, so it will be interesting to see how they go about it.

Sanders, Peter, and Adamek were all “best available.”

Byrd was available and was rated higher than Sanders, but you can't blame Klitschko for fighting for the vacant WBC and The Ring belts instead. You may be right with Peter and Adamek tho. Still, it's only 3 out of his 12 won title fights.

Sanders was red hot and a much more interesting challenge than Byrd. And it was good enough for The Ring.

3/12. Compare that to Holmes who probably was like 3 out of 20ish (Norton, Cooney, and maybe Weaver).

It's a bit modern for me to be honest. I'm not aware of him ever having been in the Ring ratings, but maybe he scraped in somewhere along the line. I do know that he was ranked 14th by the WBC when he got his shot at Vitali.

Better than it looks on paper.

Chisora was coming off a loss to Robert Helenius, but almost everybody on this forum thought that he should have got the decision.

Helenius had been on an impressive winning streak, and was in the Ring Magazine top ten at the time.

At the time Chisora was an "ok" win but nothing spectacular. The win has aged rather well, though. Vitali was old AF when he beat prime Chisora. Chisora is now old AF and he's beating guys that are seen as top fighters.

Nobody he beat was seen as a top fighter.

Geez man, before he fought Zhang people were creaming themselves over Joyce. He loses to one guy and then he sucks? Come on.

He should have got the nod vs Helenius, and he was certainly seen as a top fighter at the time.

If that call goes his way, then history might have been different.
