Where do you rank Derek Chisora among Vitali's best wins?

Ironically he might be soon, based on the Joyce fight, at the very tail end of his career.

 

It was a strange win because from what I remember Vitaki was suer gassed at the end and his brother practically helped hold him up after he got the decision ... crazy. More to it ?

 

Vitali was around 40 & he was fighting through a left shoulder injury.

 

It isn't directly for the question but it occurs to me that Vit's versions of Adamek and Chisora against each other may have been awesome and I don't know who would win.

 

Holmes had a streak of 15 fights with Top 10 rated opposition (if you count Ali), so nahh.

 

He just made TBRB's Top 10.

 

A lot of those guys were still trash and you just moved the goalposts.

Derek was definitely better than Hide, Arreola, Solis. He's a top 5 Vitali win, maybe top 3.

 

I'll give you Hide. The others, no.

 

How so? Solis accomplished absolutely nothing as a pro, Arreola only slightly more. Derek also performed better against Vitali and could at least provide a very tough test against top 10 opponents. I'd favor him over Stiverne and Tony Thompson who smoked Chris and Solis.

 

Arreola was undefeated and a certified top ten guy when he fought Vitali. Solis was undefeated and the best am to ever turn pro at heavyweight. The Solis fight was obviously an easy win because he blew his knee out, but he was still a better opponent than Chisora when the bell rang.

I'll give you that Vitali was old and injured for Chisora though if you want to factor that.

I'm surprised at that, I thought he'd get in after beating their nunber 8, even though, tbf, its clear Joyce is no longer anywhere near the 8th best HW in the world.

It seems like the guy is destined to never make it.

Chisora must be in with a shout of being the boxer in all of history who most epitomises the term "fringe contender". As in being very close to the 10 ranked contenders for such a long time, without ever cracking them.

 

My thoughts were that it might go either way for him.
