I think he's an awesome fighter, in his prime he had speed, footwork, chin, power, combinations, movement.

Holyfield fits nicely into the top 10 for sure. How many fighters have defeated another great fighter in their respective prime. He has three solid former greats that were extremely competitive in the top ten during the time he faced them on his ledger, and two or three short term title holders. He was never blown out by fighters he was a big favorite over and always competitive on the elite level. Not to mention he is a four time title holder.
Its ridiculous to think there is many fighters that have accomplished more than Evander. Qaulity will always be better than quantity and there is few that have the resume of Evander Holyfield.

When you drink a lot, cut and paste a lot, and post in forums a lot; tons of unintentional **** happens. You are correct, I ****ed up. 14, I think, is the correct number of defenses.

Surely in any list that Joe Louis is in and not lower. the same can be said , although reasonably more controversial even about ali (somehow i can understand those who won't agree about the latter).
Again : Imagine how louis would have fared against holyfield oposition :
    Bowe X 3 , Lewis X 2 , Tyson X 2 , Foreman , Holmes , Moorer X 2 ,
Ruiz X 3 (MAYBE here he'd have some success , maybier in moorer's case) , Toney , Qawi X 2 , Tillman , Byrd (remember that charles did beat louis , same desrved by walcott) , Ibragimov , James Douglas etc.
It doesn't end is it ? and i forgot some or many.
Louis retired when he retired , think of evander retiring the same age - his resume might have looked better to some of you.

As much as I like Lewis, I rate Holyfield higher than him in the atg stakes as a heavy. In his prime he would of dusted Lewis fairly convincing imo. Both great fighters though.

10-15. An all-time great, but like everyone else says, inconsistent.

IMO Holyfield has one win that is better than any of Lewis', and that is Bowe. But it's no secret Bowe wanted none of Lennox and and Holyfield lost the trilogy anyway.

Add to that he weant 1-1 with Michael Moorer and lost twice to Lennox himself.

He never seemed to dominate the division in the way Lennox did either.

    I personally think 8-15 would be fair...but that's quite a big range.

    I have him at 12.

I always have problems in which order to place Holyfield,Lewis and Tyson. All three of them would be in my lower part of top 10 heavies.
