Just keep your floyd is greater than henry armstrong thoughts to yourself.
No one likes to see a man providing virtual fellatio to another man in a boxing forum.

I liked Nelson but there is no way id put him over Mayweather at 130, Nelson was better atr 126 although he had more defenses at JL he Could be beat at JL and he lost a few times (although they were against excellent fighters)

The top 3 are Chavez,Arguello,Mayweather i wouldnt argue no matter how you mixed those 3.

In terms of greatness purely at 130lbs, I don't like Arguello over Floyd really. I think Floyd vs. Arguello would have been an all-time great match head to head, though. Two comprehensive punchers setting up well-timed and well-placed shots. Would have been great.

I don't think Nelson really has much of a case to be greater than Floyd at 130lbs.

    Good post.

Edit: Why Chavez, by the way?

To get in the Top5 ATG, I think Mayweather would need to do the following:

    -Beat Mosley
    -Beat Pacquiao
    -Unify 154
    -Win a belt at 160

So he would need to beat Mosley, then beat Pacquiao, then beat Foreman/Spinks/Martinez and then someone like Sylvester or Sturm.

Mayweather is 33 and he would need 3 more years to do that. I think he doesn't have time.

Realistically, he has time to beat Mosley, Pacquiao and someone else at 147 or 154. Doing that, he can get in the Top15 of all time.

Just because I usually think of Chavez more as a monster at 135lbs-140lbs and don't rate him with the very top dogs at 130lbs.

Around 30-50, but higher than Pac - unless Pac can prove he is not on drugs.

It's a subjective list man, guy can have any reasoning he wants. He's not a US court of law. I'm not judging Pacquiao this way, but I certainly do in baseball, so I can relate.

His resume is just as impressive he had 9 title defenses over excellent competition beating Martinez,Mayweather,Castillo,Lockridge and Laporte.

Uninformed and Unknowledgeable fans (Most Notabally *******s) like to bash his comp but thats pretty damn good scalps for only his first reign. All those guys were top notch elite fighters in their weight divisions.

I agree that Chavez improved and Peaked at lightweight and his Longest and best reign was at 140. However his reign at JL compares with the best whoever fought there.

Fair enough. Head to head the greatest at 130lbs would have made a great round robin tournament. Tremendous stylistic clashes.
