It doesn't need to be "explained away". Olympic Style testing is better than current methods. That's the only explanation required.

It's about time. This old "he shouldn't have to take the test because no one has before" is a weak argument. It's just weak. The current methods are known to not work. There needs to be drug testing reform in boxing, like it or not. Whether Pacquiao agrees to it or not is up to him, and he'll just have to deal with the shadow that his refusal casts over him. Strict drug testing is good.

Yep, those are some real numbers. They should be in a graph for dramatic effect.

    Yes. It is.

All boxers should be tested strictly.

    Completely agree.

If Floyd was serious about making a change, there are ways to have done it. Petition legislation, send word to ALL the sanctioning bodies as well as all State Athletic commissions. Provide RESEARCH. There's no way he will get this changed immediately. He could refuse to fight in a state with lax testing laws. FORCING them to change if they want the biggest money maker fighting there. So in that sense, he could have continued to WORK ON CHANGING IT, while making the biggest fight today. Of course he won't fight anywhere but Vegas so he can use his hand cream. But the point is, he handled this very poorly. Made it public too quickly.

That's great Floyd is trying to do something, but you are a fool if you think he really wanted this. He was backed into it by his demands. He'd HAVE to in order to save face.

Petitioning to have laws changed takes time. Floyd's getting on in years and I'm not sure he wants to be trying to change the books through petitions. Rather, lead by example. If Pacquiao had agreed to the stringest testing, they would have set a good precedent and raised awareness of the issue. Unfortunately, Pacquiao didn't agree to the terms.

I would be a fool to think he really wanted what, stricter testing? What exactly was he backed into? If Floyd had a problem being tested, he wouldn't have asked for it.

Yes, it does take time. As does changing anything. And Floyd's age has nothing to do with it if he's serious about CHANGING THE SPORT. Does that mean he'll give up trying after he retires? That would make all he said very disingenuous and phony, which it most likely is. But if he does manage to change it, then more power.

Even if Pac agreed, you think that all the other Athletic commissions and sanctioning bodies would just change like that? Hell no. they aren't changing for Shane vs. Floyd.

As for what he was backed into, read between the lines. This was a great way for Floyd to get out of that fight. He found a way, and stuck to it. Now to save face, he has to ask for that type of testing till he retires, or he'll get grilled on it. It was never about Floyd being tested. Don't know what that comment is supposed to apply to.
