Where do you rank Josh Barnett in the all-time heavyweight rankings?

    Scurla's talking ****. Couture's resume at heavyweight is easily better than guys like Kerr and Coleman. Ranking Barnett ahead of Randy is understandable but to say Randy isn't a top 10 atg at heavyweight is ridiculous.

    :lol: Yeah Randy was a dominant heavy wasn't he?! Geez what a ****ing reach. His best body of work is at 205. Every time he faced a significant opponent at heavy he lost badly. But somehow his accomplishments are worth more than the likes of Coleman and Kerr who were both seen as the number one heavy in MMA at some point in their career. Astounding logic. Il say it again Randy shouldn't be near anyone's top 10.

    Randy defeated Maurice Smith 5 months after Smith defeated your precious Coleman. That's one accomplishment The Hammer is lacking.

    Like I said, produce 6 better resumes minus Fedor, Nog, Cro Cop, and Barnett or you've got nothing.

    None of them are definitively much higher than Couture though.

    You could easily argue Kharitonov, Arlovski, Werdum, Mir and JDS being over Randy, same as you could argue Randy being over all of them as well (though I'm sure some people would have a real issue with JDS even being mentioned, considering he's never even fought for a title yet). I think I'd have some of them over Couture, but not all.

    But I think Couture deserves to rank higher than Vovchanchyn for sure. Igor's best wins over bona fide heavys are Kerr, Goodridge and Yvel, if I'm not mistaken. Not much is it?

    Though I agree with Scurla that Couture's best work was at lightheavy. I think of him primarily as a LHW and think his all-time ranking would be higher at lightheavy.

    Scurla is right, Randy is not top 10 in heavyweight history for MMA.


    We are going from 1993 to 2011, thats a total of 18 years...when in reality you will never have a top 10 all time list.

    Randy was never considered or actually the best heavyweight at any one time.



    If you compare MMA to boxing, then look from 1892 to 1910....same point we are at with MMA.

    They had John L Sullivan, Corbettm Fitzmons, Jefrries, Burns, and Johnson.


    In the grand scheme of things only Jeffries and Jack Johnson were all time great the rest whilst remember wernt as important as these two.


    Same with MMA, I can say without a doubt there have only been 3 all time great heavyweights thus far.

    Fedor, Nog and Cro Cop....the rest will be filled up in the coming decades of MMA.

    We cant put guys like Cain, Overeem and JDS or any other outstanding fighter as there carrers are not over just in there primes.

    Good post, I agree, I also think the person who wins the SF tourney will have some clout with this as well.
