-Well JMM was really a blown up lightweight -Hatton was really a jr. welterweight -The De La Hoya fight was at jr. middleweight so you can toss that one out entirely. -Baldomir was the champ at the time but I doubt anyone ranks him high in the great list of previous welterweight champs -Zab Judah was prety good win but he was probably on the downslide of things when Floyd faced him -And Sharmba had his best days as a jr. welterweight and was damn near shot when Floyd knocked him out. So overall Mayweather's resume at 147 really doesn't stack up too well to past welterweight all-time greats. Currently, Margarito, Cotto, and Mosley all rank ahead of him.
DLH fight was at Junior-Middleweight. Floyd has done very little of note at welter, he ranks nowhere.
you are right. it will not change my mind. He was great no doubt. A man who could fight so well and be dominant at lightweight, moving up and doing well, but he really did not do great at the higher weights. That is my argument. If he was top 5 great as everyone says, he would have beaten Leonard in the rematch, Hearns and Benitez.. And maybe edged Hagler. But he didn't. Therefore he is probably top 20. That was my point. He was overrated, but he was great. Take care.
and even some of his performance at the lower weights is suspect. corrales was clearly his biggest win there but its an established fact that corrales was weight drained. the guy came in 2 lbs over the limit during weigh in and had to shed it before making weight.
