Please read some American history.Then compare the lot of a black man growing up in
pre civil-rights America compared to a white man ( albeit a poor one ) growing up in the
last 5 years of the 19th century and the early part of the 20th century.

Sonny Liston was abused by brutal father who whipped him so severly that Sonny's back
was permanently scarred.Dempsey had the securiy of being raised in a convential,ordinary family.
If you persist in maintaining that Dempsey had a harder life than Liston then I can only conclude

Also it was tougher for mixed Native American and Irish in late 19th century that it was for black people in 1940/50s.

You forgot that Dempsey also worked on a farm like a mule and became a hobo at young age without food or any place to sleep unlike Sonny who went to live with his mom.

Liston had a place to sleep and eat while Dempsey hadn't, he fought for food and place to sleep while Liston was a leg breaker and a thief that used to rob people.
