Well I don't walk around with rankings but off the top of my head HW's whole could or would defeat Liston: Johnson Dempsey Louis Marciano Ali Holmes Foreman Frazier Bowe Lewis Wlad Klit Tyson Usyk Fury AJ There are probably a couple others. Mike "Hercules" Weaver, Vit Clit. So around 15, maybe up to 20.
He couldn't destroy Marty Marshall and Leotis Martin let alone someone of Marciano's caliber. Once he faced HW that was not afraid and that could take punches he shiet himself.
I believe that he beat no one close to Marciano/ Frazier caliber and the only one Ali beat him like a drum that he quit.
We've been through this many times before. The Marty Marshall fight was only Sonny Liston's 8th professional fight.Despite sustaining a broken jaw early in the fight Sonny fought bravely and made it to the final round.Sonny was a very old man ( in boxing terms ) when he lost to Leotis Martin but he still inflicted sufficient damage to force Martin to retire permanently. Liston stops Marciano within 4 or 5 rounds.
So you're still spewing out the same old garbage.Zora Folley,Eddie Machen and Cleveland Williams are at least the equal of Marciano,if not better.
LOL ! No brickbats from me mate. You've written a good solid analysis on the subject. Most of us have a fairly movable all-time top 10. For instance I have Mike Tyson around no 10 but sometimes I move him out for either of the Klitschko bros. Just for the record I also have Sonny in my top 5.I happen to agree with Ali and Joe Louis in my top 5 ( who doesn't have those 2 titans ? ) and also Mr Holmes. My only difference with you is Lennox Lewis rounds off my top 5 rather than Jack Johnson All good stuff.
What the hell… Marciano himself insinuated he would lose to Liston Dempsey was under 200 LBS, hes done for Frazier lost to a young underdeveloped Foreman, take that Foreman add an inch a reach, lots of fighting IQ, lots of experience, and a style which perfectly counters Frazier and thats Liston Not sure who “Johnson” is, if your referring to Jack Johnson I feel no need to address this and you have clearly never watched a Liston fight in your life. The rest are arguable, but id put Liston above everyone except Ali.
Id bet my life savings on it, Dempsey was GREAT at taking down bigger opponents. But he would never beat Liston, maybe knockdown a few times but never take it.
