I rank Whitaker in the Top15 of all time. His best wins: Roger Mayweather, Jose Luis Ramirez, Azumah Nelson (at 135), James McGirt, Julio Cesar Vasquez. He also has some loses.

I don't know where to rank Mayweather. He's definitely lower than Whitaker, but where? His best wins are: Genaro Hernandez, Diego Corrales, Jose Luis Castillo, Oscar de la Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Juan Manuel Marquez (at 147).

Mayweather is undefeated, has climbed more in weight and still has a couple of years left. Whitaker is probably the best defensive boxer of all time.

Why is Whitaker Top15 and Mayweather isn't Top30?

It's only because Mayweather hasn't retired. Whitaker was a defensive master, but Floyd has an offensive arsenal that Whitaker never had. Not to mention 10 times more dedication to the sport.

Give it time. Mayweather will climb the charts after he retires and people realize how talented he really is.

Whitaker had just as good an offensive arsenal and wasnt afraid to use it. He had a better jab, better inside ability and was a better combination puncher.

Whitaker has the superior resume and was the better fighter...I cant see Mayweather ever surpassing him but in time he will be remembered as a truly great fighter.
Probably inside the top 40 alltime...and maybe he will creep up as the years go by.

I agree with everything you said except for the combination punching. I always thought that was one of the few things Floyd does better than Pernell. He's just so damn accurate and i think his handspeed is better. Although I think Whitaker's jab is many levels above Floyd's.

He had a good arsenal, although Mayweather has several more knockouts in less fights.

Maybe Floyd does in spots better, especially with his greater power but I dont consistently he is.

He is just to cautious generally.

Obviously his displays against Ndou and Gatti were awesome, as were a lot of his fights at 130 but I dont think he would be able to consistently do that against guys like Nelson or McGirt, like Pea did.

Sweet Pea let his hands go with often very unconventional punches coming from everywhere...and he was a good body puncher aswell.

Not sure, but Whitaker did go life and death with Roger Mayweather... who's no where on the level of Floyd Jr.

His combination punching was good in that fight as well, better than Floyd's has ever been.

Did you watch that fight or just the one round where Pernell was in trouble?

He was in his 12th fight against a seasoned pro...Other then that round it was pretty much a schooling, with Pea putting a little bit of a beatdown on at times.

Uncle Rog wasnt on Floyd's level but he was a good, world class fighter.
