I'm afraid that I've yet to see that happen. In my experience the 20-1 guy will win every time.

Povetkin has won 2 since losing.
Pianeta has won 3 since losing.
Wach won 3 since going down to Wlad.
Thompson won 5 and then lost to Klitschko again

Thanks for mentioning Ibragimov, who holds a win over ATG Holyfield, who you think has a better resume' than Wladimir

Boxed Ears, I highly recommend that you watch Nelson vs De Leon ;) You will love that all-action fight :D

the opponents are nobodies or close to them.
I give him credit for takam though, so its ONE win.

How is ONE win a winning streak?

    against nobodies.

who is going to lose against nobodies. Just mentioning a semi nobody like Pianeta does you no favours.

wach fight nobodies, he is terrible himself.
how is claiming wach a victory?
you shouldn't even be mentioning him if you want to retain credibility.

tony can box well, but why was he getting a title shot in the first place? the man was old then!

Ibrag was not bad to be fair, but you just obliterated your argument by smugly brandishing a victory over a mid forties Holyman like its some figth of the century win.

Look at Ross Purrity. Compare his record to guys on Wlad's early resume before he won a title. There are guys with better records than Purrity who didn't put up much of a fight. I just took a look at Wlad's early opponents.

My point is records and numbers don't tell the full story.

Seems to me that you are trying to impose a bit of a double standard here ... that these no-name fighters are worth considering when they are on a Holmes or Tyson list of victims, but not worth considering when on, say, Povetkins? :huh

Regarding Holyfield - well, Byrd beat him too, and Wlad beat Byrd, so, that's another ;)

Please don't get me wrong, I like Holy as much as the next guy, but in terms of RESUME' Wlad's beats his handily.

You are correct, of course. Wladimir typically doesn't let his opponents get into the fight, whereas a lot of these ATG's struggled mightily to beat some not-ATG opponents. Tyson vs Tillis, anybody?

How does Wlad's resume rank better than Holy's in your mind? :huh

where have I claimed this? quote me where I have.
It is YOU who is comparing "fights during rise to contention" of Tyson and Holmes with "winning streaks" whilst having lost a title fight (povetkin).

YOu want to fictionalise a double standard.

    triangle theory.

I don't think so at all.

Tyson didn't struggle with Tillis. Tillis had his moments. A struggle is Wlad Williamson. Joe Mesi took Williamson apart in 1 before he fought Wlad if memory serves.
