Probably Top5 at HW: 1. George Foreman 2. Mike Tyson 3. Earnie Shavers 4. Wladimir Klitschko 5. Lennox Lewis
Its hard to say, but i will guess he is probably top 5. He have insane power in both hands, but he play it safe most of the time and prefere to wear down opponent and then finishing them. Tho he is a older now and rely on holding much more then before. He probably cant move like he do it before and his cardio probably not the same, but he is still the best in the divison. And thats been say there wont be much clinches with Jennings. Probably long range distance fight.
Excellent list, But Lennox def hit harder that Wlad. Personally, Id say: 1. Liston 2. Foreman (1 and 2 basically interchangeable) 3. Shavers 4. Lewis 5. Tua/Tyson/Lyle/Frazier/Marciano/Wlad
Resume is questionable. Merit of power (although unmeasurable) is much less debatable. He's at the top. EDIT: Up there at the top of the top tier with the George Foreman's, Mike Tyson's, Earnie Shavers' (just cause everyone and their mom seemed to say so), Joe Louis, etc.
Love him or hate him you can't deny he is packing serious power in both hands. It's impressive that he has had as many KO's as he has when you consider he fights in such a cautious manner.
maybe, however, Lewis didn't have two fisted power, his left hook was poor, thus in a overall way I say they are pretty comparable in power. either way, for big guys I put them both at the top of the hardest hitters obviously with Foreman, Tyson and a few others.
Keep reading this nonsense. He has more one punch ko than pretty everybody else among the best heavyweights. While the consensus number one in power department, Foreman, was actually an accumulation puncher most of the time.
His thing is not his power. Probably some unknown or poorly known boxers possess the greatest power. Such as Mansour has enormous power. But boxing is much more complex than simply punching hard.
What do we mean by hardest? Most effective? They are, as more fighter's are vocalising, two different things. Manny Pacquiao has that shotgun delivery which I attribute more to the blows of Dempsey, Louis and even Tyson. Shane Mosley, Timothy Bradley and Chris Algieri all spoke about how Pacquiao's are not the hardest, but the next thing you know you're on the canvas. They zap you. A quicker, hard punch tends to stun more than a slower, heavier one. Larry Holmes remark about Tyson's punch feeling like a car hitting you at 100mph and the startled look on his face after being decked instantly comes to mind. Clearly, Wladimir is very heavy-handed and effective, but considering he usually thumps you into submission I'm not sure he's in the top tier for effectiveness, punch for punch.
