Eubank had a full training camp and said he could fight at SMW, CW or LHW
he also said he could fight at SMW and went to LHW to win try and win a world title to lure Collins.
It was a change of opponent for Calzaghe also at 12 days notice
You say about retiring but Floyd retired at one point. Eubank said the rest had done him good after fighting around every 7 weeks and in 97 said he could fight at SMW, LHW and CW see below
Dawson was a similar age to Eubank also

After the respective bouts Eubank went up to CW and fought a massive punching CW champ to a debatable decision whereas Dawson was blasted out in a round.
    Big difference

Dawson said he could go back down to 168. That obviously wasn't the case. If there's another difference to note , its Ward put a clinic on Dawson , whereas Joe vs Eubank was a sloppy affair imo. Ward stopping Dawson doesn't really matter since Eubank had a cast iron chin.

You need to learn to read

I didn't rate either of Calzaghe or Ward at LHW, Herol.

I ranked Ward at SMW and p4p, as the thread question asked.

Did you disagree with the video that showed the shots to be on the belt line? ? A belt line shot isn't low.

Nobody called Holyfields body shots low against Lewis and they were all landed on the belt line. Lewis trunks may have been a bit higher , but so were Krushers , they were so high they covered his belly button so Ward was hitting his protector.

As well as you comparing one fighters first world title fight to another who had been an established champ the Calzaghe vs Eubank wasnt sloppy at all lol.
A real thing to note was that Eubank was a SMW legend with the best SMW resume ever at that time, more SMW title fights than anyone else at that time.

I didnt find either fight with kovalev controversial and im not about to argue with you for 30 pages anout a dead topic. Kovalev had demolished many of the top contenders other than stevenson by the time ward moved up and that elevated his wins.

I already said his lhw resume isnt that deep, his skill and h2h ability make me rate him higher than some lhws. Who do u have in your top ten?

we don't have to argue, just agree to disagree. I can't put Ward on a top whatever LHW list...he fought at that weight too few times for me to vote for him. I see him at 168 rankings for sure. I think you need to have 10 or so bouts at a certain weight level to be considered in a top 10 or 25 or whatever at that weight.

My list, in no particular order:

    Moore
    Langford
    Greb
    Charles
    Foster
    Conn
    M Spinks
    Roy Jones Jr
    Dwight Qawi
Tunney (although I don't like this choice; avoided black fighters like the plague so I'll replace him with Tommy
    Loughran

He beats the crap out of greb and stops him on cuts.

Depends on which version of charles and moore. The older ones in their mid to late 30's would struggle heavily with ward.

He has a good chance against tunney and i agree him ducking black fighters hurts his record.

He has a punchers chance against roy due to his chin but 8/10 roy would win convingly.

Pound for pound he is in my top 25 and at Super Middleweight he is Number 1. Excellent all round consummate fighter. Excellent inside and outside game as well as at mid range. Could have held his own in any era.
