I'm not sure some of those comparisons work. The idea is that Calzaghe had a purely mental impact on Lacy which meant he was never the same. That's quite different to someone breaking their jaw or suffering a severe shoulder injury which can obviously impede you in a physical as well as mental sense.

Agree completely mate in the fighters you mentioned.
I was 100% on the Price is a jaugaunt
Agree Completely mate one loss can absolutely destroy a fighter.
To mention a couple of fighters from your post.
I was 100% onboard the "Price is a juggernaut train" and im gutted for him where his career is at now.
And AA getting smashed by Gomez was just crazy.

I don't think "Lacy was overrated" and "Calzaghe ruined Lacy" are mutually exclusive.

He clearly wasn't as good as American pundits wanted him to be. The pre-fight predictions for Calzaghe-Lacy show a complete disconnect between their perception of how good he was and what he had actually showed in the ring.

Likewise though, his performances slid after the Calzaghe loss; he went 6-5-1 (1) across the remainder of his career. He was clearly better than that beforehand. He was a physically strong, explosive puncher who let his hands go and could get fearsome leverage on his shots. He didn't show any of that after the Calzaghe beating. He became a one-paced, one-dimensional plodder who could barely squeak by Tsypko and Manfredo, and struggled to lay a glove on the ghost of Roy Jones. It may have been the injury, the beating or a combination of them, but he clearly wasn't the same fighter afterwards that he was pre-Calzaghe.

Joe almost beat him to death, Lacy took a right hammering. Taking that kind of punishment is career shortening.

Lacy went from having it all his own way all his career to getting in the ring with someone he labelled a slapper and getting taken to school and receiving an absolute beatdown of epic proportions, Joe absolutely destroyed him both mentally and, on the night, physically.

If Joe went on that WBO run in this social media era he would be seen as the biggest joke in world boxing.

Do you ever post anything positive?

You sound like you really don't know the difference between a boxthing round and a steak round.
