Sanders didn't have the most appealing physique of a fighter, but in his fights he knew how to put his 225-235 lbs behind his punches. Also he was a tall rangy southpaw and was very fast. I really wasn't surprised when he ko'd Wlad in 2003 because I'd seen him fight Bobby Czyz and Hasim Rahman, and he had a very aggressive style. Cooments please

    Nowhere.

He had the attributes of an all time great puncher, but we don't have due cause to rank him among them!

The most that we can say, is that he might have been an all time great puncher, if his career had played out differently!

Jim Lampley who was ringside at over 100 fights said Corrie has as heavy hands as he has seen.

Hasim Rahman calls him the hardest puncher he ever fought.

He's got many 1st-3rd round stoppages. Close to Tyson, I bet.

So there you have it, out of the ring, in the ring, and statistics.

As a puncher, way up there.

Yeah Wlad wasn't the only good ko on his record. Al Cole who was very durable he stopped in one round, Johnny Duplooy, Bert Cooper, Michael Sprott, Bobby Czyz. Ross Puritty he didn't ko but decisioned. If Sanders based himself in the USA instead of South Africa he would have gone farther.

This is how I see it.

I would love to see how he would have done under better circumstances, but we have to work with what we are given.

He's not an all time great puncher..... more an oddball combination of hand speed, size, the southpaw stance and solid, accurate punching coming together.

Disagree. I saw him in person and his power was insane.

I think we all agree he would have to be the greatest... or the worst.

    At least we all agree.

He was a decent puncher but nowhere near ATG power.

Wlad simply had a weak chin and made Sanders look better than he was.

    Yet Rahman beat him.

Suffice to say Lennox Lewis and Oleg Maskarev hit Rahman harder judging by the way he was KTFO by both.

There was a "shock" factor to Sanders' punching. He had a lot of quick KOs, but never scored a stoppage past 6 rounds and didn't have an overwhelming KO ratio despite a relatively low standard of opposition on the whole.

The speed and unusual angles probably played a big part in the WTF look some of his opponents displayed. However, once an opponent had settled into the fight and was able to see the punches better, he didn't seem to be a major threat. Some of that may be down to conditioning issues and a tendency to box at range if he didn't get the quick stoppage; the inevitable conclusion though is that he didn't carry his power throughout the fight, which would be expected of an ATG puncher (however that is defined).

He was clearly a dangerous fighter, but the record doesn't support him being in the top tier of ATG heavyweight punchers.

Just quoting what he said. Maybe Sander's didn't connect flush, but Rhaman is that judge. I've heard stuff by others at gyms that said Sanders hit harder than Mike Tyson.

Show me who you think has all time power.

PS: Wlad chin was not weak. He always got up, better described as average tested by many good to top level punchers.

Sanders could punch. Like someone previously posted he should of based his career in America. All time great puncher? impossible to know he doesn’t have the resume. But unless you are blind or biased watch the films of the man - he could definitely punch. He destroyed Wlad, had Vitali as hurt as i’ve Ever seen him and had Rahman pretty much out.
